Well first day on the track for 2023 in the books. I was on Thunderbolt at NJMP. The weather was miserable. 1 session was wet from heavy rains the night before. Next 3 sessions it rained and the last 2 dried out some. I was 25.sec off my pace. I did go off track and spun when i came back on track in the 2nd session. Luckily i was only doing 40mph and only damage.wss cracked under tray pan. I probably wont have my vids ready for a few days but here is a pic.
Yikes, that looked like fun (not). I almost spun my VW at Palmer in the rain, not a place you want to go off at. I really don't like rainy track days and I don't care what anyone else says.
Not a bad recovery. I think I'd have puckered pretty hard thinking about that overpass coming at me though!
U would think but i had some traction in the grass, mud rut? I actually thought i was gonna drive right up onto the asphalt but it hooked. If u look i wasnt on the gas or brake because i was only going 40mph.....it seemed like slow motion.
Got some downloadable fvd power to take care of the flat spot in the torque curve about 5k rpm caused by the exhaust. Also some laps from last sat. I was chasing an e-30 that was driven well. Im still a few sec off my pace but it was only 55*..
A couple more track days under my belt and im basically at the speeds i was at, the end of last year. I did have a rear bumper melt down. I dont have the heat shields in there so the lisence plate holder screw plugs failed but the lower screws held. The weight of the plate pushed the soft bumper toward the exhaust and the whole assembly started to fall off. Luckily i was black flaged before i lost the plate.
Time to fab up simething and graft it into that bumper. Ill also get some more track vids and oil pressure data out soon.
Yeah that's a sweet Touareg Diesel.
I envy you guys, I've only had time for one TNIA crashfest this year. I got a total of 11 laps in three sessions because of all the black flags.
I'm melting, I'm melting...
I really like the way that bumper looks so I'm sure you'll get it straightened out. Wish I could get rid of my bumperettes.
Is that camera faking me out or do you have a lot of camber on the rear wheels?
