Three Wheelin'
Just drove by the villas and wondered if I would see you, then I realized I hoped I wouldn't. My car is a mess. Needs attention. With you in Town I have this urge to wash it. And maybe learn how to correct it, or correct myself, or both. Every time I think about doing that kind of stuff I think maybe I'll just go for a drive while I have a chance and work on it later. I'm a bad dad.
It does okay though. When I came out of the post office just now there was a 20-Year-Old that wanted to know about it but he was pretty much speechless. All he could say was It looked good, was it a manual transmission and what year was it. I apologized to him for not being currently washed/ waxed but it didn't matter to him him. He said he just wanted to hear it. Thank goodness it started right up and I didn't get hit by a bus pulling out into traffic. Out of the corner of my eye I could see he had his phone out was videoing me as I took off so I flashed A Steve McQueen peace/ victory sign out The passenger window.
Someday I hope to have my car at least part way to where yours is.

Two mini updates to the longest period of not doing anything to the car as long as I’ve owned it. @De Jeeper told me about 3DM for Ohlins suspension components and that’s where I got some small parts. Whilst looking at some parts today, I found that they offer a dampening extension specifically for the Bose system.
https://3dmmotorsport.com/collection...e-sound-system
Do I need it? Absolutely not BUT I got it anyway, one less thing I need to undue if I ever needed to change a setting. With the cage in the way… I don’t want to go back there to do anything after the install.
The other update was from C1 Composites. It’s really nice having a part being made specifically for you and they sent some pics of the hood out of the mold.
Obviously it’ll need some trimming, sanding and the added clearcoat. I appreciate the updates.
Lastly, the seat will be going in soon as well. The 997 extended seat belt receptacle will not work with the Sparco so I have one if anyone needs one. Ordered an extension from FVD and anchor points from Rennline.
I have the hardware for the receptacle as well. The same day the OEM seat comes out to make getting behind the cage easier to remove the Bose box… the Sparco will go in its place. The hardest part will be undoing the lower seat belt end to correctly run it through the lower opening of the seat.
I feel so confident that I’ll get the suspension installed that has been in my possession for 2yrs now, I’ve made an alignment appointment on the 21st which includes a corner balance.

So I’ve been working on the car when the time has presented itself and the rears are in and the fronts should be in by tomorrow but I’ll update my progress here. Rears went in pretty easily with the exception of removing the Bose sub with the cage in place. The initial damping setting is +10 from soft.
The fronts are going in pretty easily as well. Only thing that has me a little annoyed is the Cargraphic instructions. The bag has a tether to keep the unit from spinning and in the instructions it shows there should be a 10mm bolt in the wheel well atea and I’d thread a nut over the tether. The only bolt there is for the cowl cover and that would mean whenever I undue cowl… the tether would also be undone. I’m going add a dedicated bolt for the tether.
The assembly is topped with a Tarett strut mount and currently set to high camber with the LCA using a 3mm shim for now. The air hose is run through the strut base and into the frunk compartment. I’ll be running the hose to the unit tomorrow but will either slot and grommet the hose coming off the air cup or drill a hole in the strut mount plastic cap and run it through there. @De Jeeper has been helping me out and suggested the slot idea so once I get the air hose ran and fittings secured, I’ll see what the best option will be.
I totally forgot to order the front LCA fork and they’ll get here next Wednesday. The plan is still to get everything installed so I can set the ride height, check air cup function and then recheck torque values. Need to have the car at my Indy by June 10th for alignment and race inspection for a PCA DE event on the 22nd.
Next steps:
- Manthey SS install
- Seat install
- Evo air pump relocation
- Hartech x Slakker sump install
Charles from @lnengineering has been great in answering some basic track prep questions so I recommend reaching out to him if you have questions. He told me to use XP6 for high track temp days and it should be around 90° ish ambient temp with probably 100° track temp for my event on the 22nd. This will be my first real instruction in the car and will keep an eye on oil pressure as the turn off the back straight is an engine killer at HMS.

glad to see the car getting race suspensions
I recommend you a VERY good alignmetn show down in miami
http://www.apexalignment.com/about.html
they do mostly race cars, but they will certainly be VERYhandy with a setup like yours...which is going to be TRICKY to setup correctly.
Best of luck.

Thanks Phil! My initial alignment will be at Weissach but Apex will do the corner balance because he’s going to ask a bunch of questions regarding my “needs” and you and I both know… I don’t know. The plan is to do a GT3ish initial set up and we’ll work off of that once I learn what type of driver I am. Gotta let you drive the car before leaving in July.

Sneak peek of the car post coilovers installed.
The suspension install wasn’t bad at all especially since I didn’t reuse anything. Currently running the air and power for the air cup kit.
Should be done tomorrow and fine tuning the ride height on Thursday, then leaving the to get aligned on Friday. Pretty happy with how it’s coming together.
The Hartech x Slakker sump arrived yesterday should be in the car next week or so. Overall it looks good.
The last things are the bucket seat and Manthey shifter, just in time for the PCA DE event.

Wow you are making good progress. I feel like a slacker. I'd better buy the tire valve caps I've been wanting and get them installed... so at least I've done something. Ha!
