Very true.

I would happily buy a straight car with good paintwork.

A car having paintwork done is not necessarily a bad thing, unless you're looking at some super low mile collector car were it might actually matter. These are 20yo+ cars that have been driven and things happen. As long as there is visual proof of damage and proof of work done by a quality shop that works on P cars I would buy with confidence. I had to have some minor work done on my car and the shop said they used a water based base for the GT Silver metallic which blends extremely well. I stood staring at the car for longer than I'd like to admit in various light conditions and could not see the work. So do you want the original paintwork with whatever damage it might have, knowing that the buyer would drive the price of it or a car with a well performed repair?

I didn't have the car listed, it kind of just happened. If I could get my asking price, I would sell. Now that it seems unlikely, I'm hesitant to sell it. I also have too many cars and am trying to get rid of some.

I've got no proof of repair or damage if any. It could've been cosmetic scratches for all I know. It's got 68k miles and good service history with nice options in a rare color. While not a concours car, I'm pretty confident it will be collectible some day.

They're already doing 2X+ standard Carreras. If that's not collectible what is

Agreed that they have gone up, but much like Real Estate its all spec? I am seeing some interesting prices on the GT3 996.2, you used to be able to pick one for under $99k in some cases a few years ago under $75k. The 996 is still most hated car, but when a dealer get them, they price them like they have gold. The 996 Turbo is now heading that route by dealers when they are being priced over $100k ....That Aero car that got $50k is not the norm, but it will get some sellers and dealers thinking it is....

Dealers already list MKII XAA over $75K now. MKI soon to follow. The Mezgers will be huge. Probably eclipse everything before or since. How can they not, literally the only 911 engine that won LeMans. Never before. Never again. Never, EVER again

6-12 months ago that would have hit $50k.

I wouldn't drive it any further than home and to the shop to get the IMSS/UAOS and a few other upgrades to it before going anywhere in it

I still have the visions of a new owner with a beautiful Blue 2004 Targa that had 2 OEM single row IMSB's fail within 10k miles of new car ownership ...

With the current rise in labor/repair costs due to Inflation, having those measures done now takes away from the value of that car in educated people mind...Smart people will factor that into the bid price...

I get emails from DriverSource, usually for cars like vintage Ferrari’s. This is the first time I’ve seen them list a 996.

Quite a spec. But why would someone go to the effort and expense of dry ice cleaning the underside of the car, and then not take the wheels off to clean the barrels?

And it needs motor mounts.

This will be interesting. Factory Aero parts but not factory equipped according to the options sticker. Plus the headlight covers. Mine had them - first thing I removed. They were 3M glued to the headlights so I had to replace the whole assembly. I wouldn't be surprised if those are attached in a similar fashion, despite what the seller says
