I say good for him that he's been able to monetize his passion via his YT channel.
His father is a successful construction magnate in KS I believe.

one of my favorite engine builders is doing amazing work yet he has less than 2000 Subs. Such a shame.

He's building a 300 WHP 3.0L NA engine.

This is why that stupid Tiger King show is so big right now
Catastrophe sells.

This thread brings up a good point. What car channels do you follow? I like to watch:

Harry’s Garage
Engineering Explained
Donut Media
Old Car Memories (for nostalgia)
Motor Week (old reviews for nostalgia again)
Hoovie
Doug.

Damn, are we all just clones of each other. I like to think I'm unique

And the movie Idiocracy was meant to be a comedy but is actually a movie predicting the future. It's funny when you see movies that are set in the future that try to predict what the future would look like - think sci fi - they are always wrong, but a screw ball comedy seems to be on track.

If you like watching people wrench on cars I recommend: Samcrac, Rich Rebuilds, & Papadakis Racing.

You should check out B is for Build. They are turning a 2015 Mustang into a 1967 Shelby. I am just in awe as to what they are doing.

Or the DIY Gang, and teh Dodge Hellcat he built FROM SCRATCH!

I appears he built it using YouTube income. It has a very large custom garage. He also recently got married and had a son in the last few weeks. Apparently most YouTubers are making about half of what they were due to a significant drop in ad revenue.

He's got 2-3 kids now.
When Tavarish (who's daddy is a billionare if you follow YT drama, I don't but was told this) gifted him that Pimp My Ride minivan, Hoovie took it to his daughters school

I like Samcrac, he is like Hoovie in the sense he doesn't claim to be an expert or a bodywork professional. I've definitely seen questionable repairs but it is good entertainment, no different than Hoovie. I got a kick out of him trying to get that Rover going.

Mighty Car Mods is a channel.I recommend. Two guys who get along great, and have some (mad) skills.

Currently doing a contest where each of them has $10k to buy a rear engine car and get them running right. One guy gets an MR2 and the other gets something sort of german.

I think it's entertaining (kind of what you want to watch when you need a break). Not every car enthusiast is capable of working on their own car and there are even those that are capable that do not have the time to do so. His channel isn't his main source of income and is unnecessary for his current and future success.

As for the rest mentioned here, it's exactly the same with the exception of some of them are capable of working on their own cars (and some have behind the scenes help that is cleverly left out). I find the salvaged rebuild ones to be more hilarious (because the level and quality of the work is subpar on most and possible dangerous on the road).

The recipe is simple and similar. "Hello I'm a car guy just like you, an average Joe really. My income is also average. I am going to do something stupid and buy an expensive/rare/quirky car cheap and attempt to do things in/to it while I repair it and sell it at a loss."
