Squirrels? Might try the bounce dryer sheets in the frunk, engine compartment and cabin. Seems to work with mouse deterrence.

I did not use those caps. I used the tape and foam sheet glued on top as others did. For the 2nd flap just the metallic tape. For the pivot cap, I did no use the putty suggested, instead I found that a rubber cap was a more elegant solution. I affixed it with black tape.

There’s a cutaway of a C4 996 at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. I was just there this week. Look at the condition of the foam….

Ha, it looks better than mine did when I finally decided to repair it.

I'm going after my foam (well, the flaps) in the next week or so.

I'm not sure what is worse here: that those flaps are made to disintegrate or that they are so horrendously placed in the car, so that it's absolutely painful to replace them.
I'm getting more and more of these foam bits out of the vents recently, so I'll problable have to bite the problem and take care of it sooner than later.
Makes me sick that apart from disassembling half of the interior, other methods are rather destructive.
Terrible design.

I took my C2 for a ride today with temps in the low 40's. No problem with the heat after years of foam blowing out the vents. I'm going in next spring with the help I have received here.
