Default Top Speed (track or other)

Just curious how fast you’ve gone in your 996? For me it’s 122 (03 c4s). Still prefer the twisty backroads though.

60 mph. Hard to go faster in town. Just wanted to see if sixth gear was really there. Kinda lugs the engine at 60 in sixth gear though!

kph of course. Anything faster wouldn’t be safe with the crappy brakes on these 996. Sorry for the confusion. 🤥

Almost 135mph indicated on the back straight at Road America. I’d love to drive to 174, published top speed for a 996 C2 cab, but wouldn’t be able to find a place to do that.

120 MPH so far. Many times hitting 110 on my recent road trip on 2 lane back roads. Loves cruising at100.

145 mph. I find the car is much happier over 100

116 (by accident) on a recent trip to the coast. I was crushing at about 90 and stopped paying attention to the speedo for a bit. If you let the car do what it likes on flat tarmac, 100+ is a 996 “comfort zone”.

145 MPH up a very steep hill north of L.A. in a 2002 GT2. It had much more to give but it belonged to PCNA so...

I hit 155 (indicated) on an Interstate in, uh, Mexico before getting a bit nervous and backing off. My stock C4 felt pretty good at that speed.
