I took mine for a long drive this morning.
Someone suggested taking pictures from lower than eye level, so I tried it.
I like how they came out.

Afterwards I fixed a long standing problem.
Ever since I changed the steering wheel, whenever the temps inside get high, the adhesive that holds the horn contact to the MOMO hub softens and moves making the horn honk when making tight turns requiring me to pull the fuse.
I used The Right Stuff to immobilize the contact.
I’m hopeful that will fix the issue.

Then I worked on my spare parts inventory.
I’m up to 310 spare Porsche 996 parts.
2/3 are brand new parts.
I’m stocking up on typical wear items. (water pumps, fuel injectors, fuel pumps, brakes, and electrical items)

Nice detective work. That would drive me crazy. Your car is looking real good too. Didn't you have stickers on your headlights when you first got the car? Personally, I think it is way better now. Guess I better get to work on mine.

Thanks!

I have two sets of headlights.
One with headlight covers and a second without.
I can change when I feel like it.
I’ve mainly had the headlight covers on for the last 4 years.
But recently I wanted a change and now I’m running the set without the headlight covers.

I took mine on an afternoon drive.
Picked up groceries and the inside got pretty toasty.
No horn honking issues, so I’m happy.
Looking forward to Tuesday now.
Swapping my uninstalled Agency Power headers for Luis’s barely used Soul headers.
I‘ll end up with Soul headers, Soul Sport Cats, and Fabspeed Maxflow mufflers.

Fixed the slack in my window regulator cable via the zip tie hack. It’s working great now. However, I made the mistake of re-connecting the battery and testing the window before plugging the airbag back in, so I now need to get the airbag code/light cleared. Next will be engine mounts!

I hung out with Luis today.
He provided a great lunch and great IPAs.
(Sorry, I forgot to take food pics )
We installed the Agency Power headers on Luis’ 996 and the Soul headers on mine.
The biggest surprise of the day, we had no broken bolts on either 996!

Default RSS Engine Mounts

After replacing the OEM engine mounts with RSS semi stiff mounts, (a bit of an ordeal to say the least) it was finally time to drive the car and see what the big difference is. The feel was a bit stiffer and more feedback, but not annoying or that radical at all. Happy I did it. Took the car to the PCA Concours meetup and the beach. Loving to be driving again!

These things are well made for sure!

Great day at Dana Point.

Bette Davis' 1935 beach house is in the background.
beach.

Finally got the UAOS done (fantastic upgrade) and new water pump (old one was going on 9yrs). 2 Final preventative items I needed to address this year, as last season I addressed all the other major items with the engine out while in the shop (tensioners, variocam pads, injectors etc).

Treated my car to a full detail. Used a polishing compound, then used Adams Graphene ceramic coating. The paint is looking pretty amazing for a black car with 20+ years of age. Always garaged, never in the elements thankfully.

Had the opportunity to help my buddy out on his BMW using Adam's products, his fiancé bought him a cleaning kit and I was very impressed with their stuff and more of the their detailing tools which are legit pro stuff. You car came out fantastic! Seeing owners still putting in time doing paint correction makes me happy.

Wow, that is truly good luck and the sign of a car that hasn't lived up here in the NorthEast! My California 996 didn't have header bolt issues either, thankfully. Thanks for choosing SOUL.

Glad it worked out. However it's painful to hear "broken bolts". Last week I over torqued mine on the engine mount change-out when the wrench did not "click". The only "click" I did hear was the bolt breaking and extracting them from a deep location in the frame was a major deal. Took days of drilling and lots of bits at a local shop. Cha Ching. Using a 1/2" wrench was also overkill I guess. Will consider a 3/4" or 3/8" digital next time around.
