<wreckless statement warning on> Doesn't the ECU set the redline higher and higher based on your driving style? <wreckless statement warning off> (sorry, I had to write it)(yes, the answer is absolutely not, DO NOT exceed the redline, do not add counts to your OverRev counter)

I was thinking of going Black on my 996.2 GT3 Wheels for my 996.1 C4, but more recently been considering having them Aurum Gold, like the 997.2 GT2/3 etc. At the moment, they are Silver..

That car looks AWESOME!!!! I share your enthusiasm and if my car had a factory Aero kit, I too would want contrasting wheel colors too. Without the aero upgrades, I feel that silver is the way to go.

Theres an understated elegance that goes with a non-aero early 996 that I am crazy about lol

Isn't the rev limiter in place to LIMIT or STOP you from going past the allowed revs? Hitting the rev limiter will simply add to the range 1 counter (ignitions) simply saying you had a good day behind the wheel and hit the red line. No damage there. Range 2 is the mechanical over rev which is the bad one. Only way to get to range 2 over rev is a money shift causing the engine to mechanically hit higher RPM than what the electronic rev limiter allows for. For example, wanting to go 2nd to 3rd but putting it in 1st at higher rpms.

Yes, my comment was totally out of line and was trying to make fun of how sometimes we don't know things. It's one of those statements you know you shouldn't write down.

Agreed. The redline is hard set based on mechanical limits. DO NOT go past it. I wouldn't say Range 1 counts are no damage. If you looked at 2 cars, one with 0 Range 1's and one with 5000 Range 1's that are otherwise apparently equivalent, which would you buy? No question I would buy the 0 range 1 car.

Paul - I guess that means You won’t be buying the ice cream wagon anytime soon haha.

I wonder what the world record for range 1 over rev’s is ? You think they would put me in the book 🤩

Don't all ice cream trucks have bore scoring?

I know Range 1 all too well. I'm responsible for 5000 of mine... It's totally crazy how easily these engines pull all the way up.

I may have missed it, but what is the color of the car? (makes all the difference in the world for having an opinion wheel color (at least to me))

I generally prefer silver wheels over everything. A lot of colors look great on the wheels themselves, but then I feel that those same great-looking non-silver wheels subconsciously distract you from fully appreciating the beauty of the 911 body and shape when they on the car. Of course, you can sometimes use that strategically -- if you have a Pontiac Aztek, the power move is to go with gold neon wheels .

Question: Have you measured how much lighter the Carrera II wheels are versus the turbo twists, and can you feel any difference when driving?

That tint and those mirrors really pull that look together 😎
