Yeah - the spec is aggressive but the slightly stretched tire should help - may need to play with camber a little or do a little clearance work but it would be worth it for the look IMO.
BTW - I like better with the center caps off and be sure to post some pics when you get the RH sorted. Good luck brother.
Thanks. The springs are very bothersome at the moment. The car looks like someone just put their size 13 right in the grundle. It's embarrassing.
The wheel specs are 18x11 et 50 (rear) with 285/30 Sumitomos
I have hr springs with konis, the wheels are factory 408s, I love the way it rides. Yes tires are 285 30 zr 18 michellins n2. Jason I wish you where closer
, smoking a 7 lb brisket point , with a bunch of IPAs and Miller lites. Happy 😆 holiday weekend. Yes I injected the brisket with 50/50 mix beef broth and Tony cacheres creole butter. That creo butter is the best, works great on chickens, Turkeys, pork butts.
Finally finished after a month and a half. I work to much and had surgery, ugh.
New front wheel bearings, right was bad
New CV boots, all four. Left outer was torn.
New front diff seals, they were weeping.
New front control arms.
New inner and outer tie rods.
New rear upper control arms and tuning fork arms.
New sway bar bushings and links.
New rear brake disc and pads.
New engine mounts.
New trans mount.
New Bilsein PSS10s
Car is now at GT2 height, 118mm front, 138mm rear. I did a basic front toe align, I now need to get it to a good alignment shop. The PSS10s ride really well, much better than my 18 year old shocks and springs did. Much more compliant over poor pavement. Sorry for the poor picture, looked better on that small phone screen. Took the wife out to dinner last night, first time in the car in a while. She commented on the ride being less jarring and abrupt, she really liked it.
Swapped out the ugly [IMO] DesignTek blue Induction Pipe for a nice black Spyder Performance number..
Also painted the Plug with Stove & BBQ Paint to keep it looking nice and Stock in the Bay..
The DesignTek wasn't an exact fit either; there was a Sleeve used to extend the Pipe into the GT3 Throttle Body, which looked a little untidy.. Light bit of sanding to remove the shiny finish on the Aluminium piece, clean, spray, then wait 24H.. Will clean up the other parts as necessary.. But otherwise happy with the Stock "Look"..
I finally replaced the battery that was in my car when I bought it - and was told it was dead by the auto parts store I brought it to. Seven years from a dead battery isn’t too bad! I also attached a new/old seat belt buckle under my drivers seat to get rid of my airbag light... Definitely worth the $54 from Specialized German (ebay store - I’ve gotten plenty of used parts from these guys, and they never disappoint).
Went to the Cars and Coffee show by the coast in NH on Sunday. My friend has a 99 996 so we had a Gen 1 and a Gen 2 996 roll into the show together. We saw a lot of great cars new and old. A brand new 991 as well as a GT2RS was there. There were a couple of C8 Corvettes, a new Aston Martin, and many other cars way above my pay grade there too.
My car was running great. No drips, no leaks, no funky readings on any gauge. It was a blast to drive. I still have to fix that annoying central lock warning code, but I isolated it to the rear lid lock. I'm not sure if just replacing the microswitch will fix it or if I need a new latch mechanism. On many occasions the rear lid lock won't catch and on other occasions it shuts just fine. I can ignore that problem for a while.
Did I mention the car ran great and was a blast to drive? :-)
Collecting break in miles. At 300 miles now. Engine sings, power is instantly available. Butt dyno never had it so good!
This is one of our parched valleys. 101degrees today. Some smoke still hanging around, a lot better than last week though. Mt. Diablo off in the background.

If the rear lid (engine cover?) is throwing a code, it’s most likely the micro switch. It’s fairly simple to adjust the rear latch... jus make sure you don’t set it too low, as the lid won’t pop open (ask me how I know...😏. I had to lower my engine a little bit, in order to get it opened...
I recently picked up a set of MY02 lightweight Carrera II wheels from another Rennlister and had the nearly new tires from my original turbo twists swapped over. Now I have to figure out what color to have my wheel guy paint them. I'm leaning either stain black or possibly some sort of bronze-ish.
