What did you do to your 996 today?

99 c2 cabrio
I tried to post yesterday but here we go. I've had car about a month and it was not maintained by PO at all. He let it sit in driveway and decay. First thing I did was have IMS and RMS replaced. Had new flywheel and clutch already. IMS bearing was in process of failing when replaced. Mechanically she is about back up to speed now. New paint in a few weeks. Over the weekend I:
100% clogged interior drain exit. Other was 90%. Hosing it from outside cleared it
Mice nest from PO leaving car out. They chewed the brake fluid level sensor line
Reinstalling rebuilt hydraulic cylinders
Paint is pretty rough from UV exposure from sitting in driveway for years
- Put back in hydraulic conv top cylinders and got top working again
- Fixed interior drain routing. One of the corrugated drain pipes was routed to drain behind rear seat
- Cleaned out interior drain exits behind mud guard in wheel wells
- Recharged AC system to 45 psi (90 degree day) and added ND 8 oil. Blowing cold now
- Replaced drivers side mirror motor. OEM part is not direct fit with old 1999 8 pin connector so removed old electrical board in old motor and modified/soldered it to new motor. Added a bit of hot glue and trimmed and fit right up
- Added new gas cap with retaining strap
- New plastic bits to mount drivers side trim that has mirror controller
- New air filter and cabin filter
- Fixed brake fluid sensor wire. Mice had chewed mostly through it. Soldered in extension and heat shrinked everything
- Replaced center console hinge
- Put in water proof box for security immobilizer
- Led lights for interior lighting

Obtained two M96 engines to play with.
Weighed one with all accessories but no exhaust. Both scales added together read 449, raised engine and second reading 448 for 448.5lbs average. Repositioned scales and read 401, 398, 402, and 396, for 399.25lbs. Not sure why such a big discrepancy between readings, but surprised it is this heavy thought Porsche engine unit would weigh around 350lbs.

Hey Zbomb, after fighting with it using everything I could find to try to pound it out, I ended spraying a ton of WD40 using the little red straw attachment. I just poked it all around the grommet between it and the little tunnel part of the car. I hit the grommet again and it shot out like nothing, wasted a couple hours up until that happened. Couldn't believe my luck, thought I was going to have to cut it in half somehow. Good Luck.
Man, the words I’ve said to that grommet... bad... lots of really. bad. words.

Changed the spark plugs. Did a bit of reading beforehand and saw the debate about removing the exhaust first. I did not remove it and I didn't really come across any situation where it would have been helpful. Only had evidence of a leak from one tube (middle one), so I replaced that using a socket that was slightly smaller and wrapped a piece of sandpaper around it - gave it a little twist by hand and out it came.

I was just really surprised how beat up brand new factory ones looked.
Could have bought an aftermarket titanium set for about the same price but I prefer the OEM look

My C2 coupe has it.
I cleaned by floor mats and my dog decided he liked them.

Three Wheelin'
No
only front spoiler. Car has been lowered so it’s pretty close to the ground as it is. I got to be careful when I go up my driveway. Anyway I saw a car with side skirts and I wasn’t impressed by it. Probably they also cost an arm and a leg. Money is not an issue but again this is unbelievable, this car has almost $7,000 worth of upgrades, all the maintenance including plugs and coils were done a little less than 7,000 miles ago, with all fluid flushes. All the brake lines are new, ac hoses are new, new brake pads and rotors and less than 30,000 miles on clutch, IMs, rms. I’m never going to find another like this. 5 and half months ago I got it for $18,000 cash, no wrecks, original paint. Also dealer paid me $500 to drive it home almost 1300 miles.
