I tried, but I really cannot get myself to enter another one of these debates (to the benefit of all most likely , everything is in the archives..

I wish we could see 60-130mph datalogged data from these 2 engines mentioned here really...running them at their maximum potential to avoid any ifs and buts.. I am sure they are setup to run at 1.4 Bar at least, so that would put them at >800BHP, a good 5 second run

650bhp@0.8 Bar is about 20% better efficiency than my 3.8 engine, 997RSR engine levels if I am not mistaken..It's somewhere in the BMEP thread...Not very realistic numbers IMHO.

Your engine package should still give over 500hp????
Thanks! I bet its north of 500 but who knows how much. Once I get the WI installed and the custometune done we are all doing a dyno day here with a stock 993tt to have as a baseline.

My goal going forward is to keep temps down!! I like the power, I just don't like losing it once things get hot at the track

So what kind of cams & lifters did you put in your beast? Nevermind just notice your edit

Here is the kit from jerry - see page 36

Spartan - you give any thought to coating your intercooler?

I am not going to loose any sleep over this IAT debate. My 993TT ownership enjoyment comes from driving the car and I trust the team that built it. Perhaps if I had spent over $XXXk to build my car I would be focused on proving every little detail...but that isn't my situation

Once I have a datalogger in hand I will post some 60-130mph times.
You offered your IAT data and where it came from and I just pointed out my experience of gauges..... I am not trying to belittle you or your car as you seem to think just giving you some information.

If you do manage to get round to attaching your AIM dash (whatever that is ) and it reads directly from the ECU it would be interesting to know how accurate your gauge set up is - this is how we all learn

While that specific coating was not tested last time I saw some data on coated IC's it wasn't any better but it wasn't any worse. I would spend the $$ coating your headers instead, those things radiate ALOT of heat and the more heat you can can contain the better. Speeds up the flow of the exhaust gases too

Get a quote from them and see what they say, might be something fun to try in the winter if its not too expensive. Probably only $200 or so.

An intercooler pic was requested. Here it is! It was built by MODE with billet end tanks and Wiggins quick disconnect clamps.

Tuner1...I'm curious as there is no shroud to seal the i/c to the lid how well that works? Air, like water will take the path of least resistance which might be around the cooler...Does it ever get heat-soaked?

I am not aware of any shrouds on track cars or any larger than OEM IC's. I believe they are shrouded to fill the gap between the smaller stock IC and the wing, not because it is a better design....experts chime in.

I don't disagree that a sealed shroud would be a nice idea but the large I/C is very close to my wing so it would be difficult to contruct, plus I have yet to see elevated IATs so the I/C seems to be doing fine sans a shroud

I believe I'm now a member of the 500+ HP club The car currently has an UMW 3.6L "built" motor with some of Kevin's latest turbos, cams, catless. I'm told it is good for 550HP. My UMW Stage 1 setup made roughly 470HP on race gas and this motor easily feels like it has another 80HP.

I recently had it at the track (Pacific Raceways, Thunderhill Raceway, and Oregon Raceway Park) and it accelerates like a bat out Hell!

I'm liking the 500HP Club

Kool congrats pete. Must be nice to have your car back. I'm sure it's a beast. I thought it was going to be a 3.8? Looking forward to some performance numbers!

Right on

That sounds like a great package that should last for a long time. Do you have any details on the turbos? Are you running a second oil cooler for the track?

For cooling, it has two additional oil coolers and a transmission cooler (including internal oil squirters).
