@ Tal
If you wnat that the people believes you make a video and post it on the web.
Then the people will stop asking and enjoy your video.

<I decided to post this because I wanted to share my experience with all of you , I spent huge money on lousy MoTec tuners who almost destroyed my engine before I met him.>

this is good. It is nice to know that there are some good tuners and mechanics outthere.
I have no idea where Kingston is but oif it were near Rochester I would visit him the last time when I was there.
I NEVER critizise someone before I meet him personaly and see how he works.
I think for most guys here you number are just to good to be true.
If your car had a 8 sec then nobody would complain ;-)
6,8 sec are to fast thats the problem;-) (if this is a problem)
of course everything is possible especially on a Turbo car with big Turbo and a lot of boost

10.42 seconds. Nice crisp day in Chicagoland. I was only interested in video taping the 0 - 100, so I don't know if I was too focused on the last shift or not.

I had a chance to measure the 60-130 MPH in a Ferrari CS. I got 11 seconds. Here's the video...

Ferrari Challenge Stradale

This car accelerates nearly the same as a 996 TT.

Nice sound!

I will have to do that test on my 996 GT2 when the snow melts!

TB993TT,

That is awesome! Given that's about 62 to 124 MPH, you may be close to the 60 to 130 MPH for my Ruf. If you post the numbers beyond 130 MPH, we can probably figure that out. Just a "cut and paste" will work OK.

I did actually do a 60-130, but it wasn't as good a run, it did 60-120 in 7.57s and 60-130 in 9.14s. I can't get the cut and paste to work - its driving me mad

When I did my 60 to 130 MPH run, I had to shift 3 times at about 62, 90 and 120. So my time of 8.7 includes these three shifts.

A Carrera GT does 60 to 130 in 7.3 seconds with two shifts at 82 and 112. If it took 3 shifts, like my Ruf, it would likely be closer to 7.8 seconds.

So the raw acceleration of a Ruf, and I suspect your car also, is about the same as a CGT. This has been "proven" when I tested my car against my friends CGT. They both accelerated about the same from 60 to 160, where the number of shifts in the CGT started to be the same as the Ruf.

Isn't the RUF lighter than TB's car? It is quite heavy at around 3600 lbs. It seems like TB is very close to 600 hp.

Here are some 100-200kph times from flat 6 magazine:

PSI motorsport 500hp 1500kg 3degC 8.89secs
stock 993 turbo 1500kg 15degc 9.44s
430PS factory 993tt 1496kg 20degc 9.04s
450PS factory 993t S (euro) 1500kg 10degC 9.79s
SWS 440PS 993tt 1496kg 15degc 8.82s
PSI motorsport 540PS 993tt 1496kg 15degc 8.154s

The last one is quite interesting with the claimed 540PS, on their web site they have a power diagram which shows a peak 538PS but a much smaller area under the curve than my 541PS car - this seems to show in the numbers. BTW the weights are quoted but look just like stock DIN weights.

Some 996 numbers from the same mag:
420PS stock 996tt 1540kg 10s
462PS 996GT2 1440kg 8.81s
540PS PSI motorsport 996tt 1495kg 8.54s

I never had it dyno'd. It's rated by Ruf at 490 HP. As you know, quoting HP is meaningless because it doesn't describe how fast the car is. Also, since none of us are using the standard and repeatable engine dyno procedures that the manufacturers use in the car's spec, the numbers quoted for chassis dynos are meaningless. For example, my Ruf has beaten several people with 996 TTs with "over 500 HP to the wheels" and can keep up with a 605 HP CGT.

Bill,

I hear you. Conventional wisdom is that RUF understates his HPs, thus the saying: "RUF horses are bigger than other horses."

Your RUF is an absolute gem. Hat's off to you.

My Ruf weighs the same as a factory stock 993 TT (plus the additional Ruf oil cooler). The tests I ran removed the spare tire and toolkit, and included one passenger and about 1/2-tank of gas. Total passenger weight was about 320 lbs. That's also the same for the CS video I posted.

Thanks. Hat's off to Ruf, not me. I'm just the owner.

I'd love to see the times on your Ruf. I'd bet they're not too different.
