Thank you for your kind words.
I use Windows 7 and 10, and the normal Windows format dialogue window. I haven't seen any of the options you mention in this window.
The stick I use are also formatted from the vendor, they work without any need of reformatting.
Cheers,
Tore

Tried a 2GB stick formatted FAT from Windows. Doesn't read, and I get "Error 0" after a while on the head unit.

Any ideas?

Strange because I use some pretty tiny form factor USB sticks, formatted FAT 32 and never had a problem playing music.
Shouldn't have an EFI partition (which you'd normally only find on a windows boot drive), usb stick is just formatted as a single partition.

Tore
does the TR7412 have HD radio for the USA?

The TR7412 has a standard AM/FM tuner, no digital radio broadcast tuner.
The TRD7412 has in addition a DAB digital tuner. Digital Audio Broadcasting is an European digital radio broadcasting standard used in Europe, NZ, Australia and elsewhere. This standard is not used in the US.
Cheers,
Tore

Any update on how the dimming is? Does it change with the gauges or just hi and low with the lights on/off?

Hey guys sorry to open up an oldie but just installed one myself on a 99 996 with standard audio - car had previously had some ugly *** headunit with Alpine amp and ugly speaker behind the rear seats - sounded and looked awful. I was amazed to find this was 100% plug and play and now I’m a little nervous im missing something. Everything works and sounds excellent! Not amazing sound quality but from it was, it’s night and day. The unit turns off when the ignition goes out, so that’s all great….

only question I had…when I turn the car on the headunit doesn’t auto turn on..is that to be expected? Im totally fine having to click it on each time but not sure if that should be coming on on its own or if I should have bought some type of harness to enable that..please don’t tell me I have to slide that thing out….

Apologies for bumping an old thread.

I'm looking to see if any of you folks with the Continental head unit are able to get your unit to automatically switch to Bluetooth/A2DP after you stop/start your car? I find that mine always defaults to radio, and I have to manually select Bluetooth/A2DP as the source every time. Thanks in advance.

Mine is always on bluetooth/A2DP. Not sure what I did to get it there but did use the harness from Bergville. Just wish it would show the clock instead of A2DP all the time.

Hmmm...

Mine, when switched on, automatically selects the last input source I used, which is almost always Bluetooth / A2DP.

Is A7 on your unit connected to a 12V that is indeed at 12V regardless if the car is on or off?

Great question, and thanks for that.

I will have to check. I had the unit installed by a shop a number of years ago and the owner retired, so I'll have to trace this down.

If it is connected to a 12v correctly, how will I know or verify? (Sorry, silly question.)

I too used Tore’s harness. Plug and play. Always comes up on BT/A2DP and immediately pairs with my phone, sometime unintentionally….when I have my BT speaker going in the garage. On my second 993 with Conti Radio in it and have installed 3 others for my crew. Only strayed when I bought a 996 C4S and had to have the PCCM+. There it’s worthwhile with the 7” screen. Not so much on the single DIN 993….

I went back into my order history and I have the ISO audio/power harness Porsche 996/Boxster M490. My phone pairs with the head unit, but every time I start the car, I have to manually select A2DP as the source, and that gets annoying.
