Installing The Continental TR7412UB-OR Radio

That is a Sony aftermarket plug. I would follow it back and see if it was spliced or there is an adapter that connects it to the factory loom.
If you have the factory loom you will be lucky as it is plug and play. If not and if that sony plug is spliced in, you will need to cut it off and then splice in a factory iso plug replacement.
You can order the factory iso plug replacement on Amazon. Vw, Audi, bmw, Porsche all used the same plug during this period...
Something like this

Continental Wiring Problem
After installing one of the Continental radios in my 1984 944 with some difficulties, I found the below note from Tore Bergvill (Thank You!!) that solved my issue.
I ended up swapping the A4 & A7 connections as described below.
Below is how a successful installation was completed in a 1984 944 - Hopefully this helps others:
The Universal ISO A harness plugged into a Continental CD7416UB-OR
A4 Ingnition Red connected toRed / Blue Red / Yellow
A5 Antenna Remote Blue connected to White
A6 Illumination Orange connected to Gray/ Blue (ash tray light)
A7 Battery + Yellow connected toRed / Yellow Red / Blue
A8 Power Ground Black connected to Brown
I ended up swapping the A4 & A7 connections as described below.
The Continental head units needs permanent 12V (Terminal 30) on ISO A pin 7, and switched 12V on ISO A pin 4. These are reversed in the original Porsche car harness. You can either modify the wire positions original A connector, or buy an ISO power harness for this purpose to avoid any changes of the original harness. The Continental user manual show all details on the head unit connectors.
If the above is swapped, the unit will not turn on when switching on the ignition, and it will shut off automatically after 20 minutes of operation.
If connected properly, you shall see a row of <<<< characters in the radio LCD when turning off the ignition.
Cheers,
Tore

I believe it is a setting on the Continental you can adjust. That, or there is some kind of wiring that was modified during installation. For my Boxster, it literally was plug and play using the Bergville plug and play adapter, so the experience from the factory Becker to the Continental was like-for-like.
I recommend reaching out to Bergville FX for support. He was awesome in answering every question I had prior to pulling the trigger on the purchase, and I am a happy customer.

Hi
Its not difficult to back the pins out of the ISO connector and reverse the power and ignition ones. Use a watchmaker screwdriver or similar.
I have just fitted mine last week. Great unit!

can anyone tell me if there is a way to have the song information show on the screen with the Continental? When playing bluetooth or the raido i wish it would show me the name of the song playing. Is there a way to do this?

Some FM radio stations send RDS info containing song and/or traffic info. Pressing the DISP key will show the available info.
When playing MP3 files from a USB memory stick, folder/file name/etc will be shown if DISP is pressed.
When streaming music via Bluetooth no song info is shown, only "A2DP" in the display.
The setting/key to press vary between the Continental head unit models, but functionality is the same.
Cheers,
Tore

993 Hi Fi Continental Volume Problem
I have 2 993's. Both have Hi Fi. I've installed the Continental with Tore's harness. All looks and works well but volume is not good in either car, even for my wife. Tore has offered to remake the harnesses but he's not certain it will provide substantially more volume. I know this issue has been raised before . Does anyone have any current 2020 suggestions? Thank you.

Has anyone tried removing the branding off the radio with IPA or acetone.
if anyone has one of these they don't need, I want to buy a second one for my other car. Let me know!

Is Tore's website down?
I'm buying a 993 which has an old CDR-210. It looks like I might need the radio and this harness: https://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php...e-964-993.html to get things working, correct? Anything else?
