Installing The Continental TR7412UB-OR Radio
#151
Tore has posted here several times recently. I believe he started changing web hosts a few months ago and has been having difficulties getting his store back online. There is a bit of pent up demand for many of his products so hopefully he'll be back online soon.
Assuming you have the radio removal tools, then other than the optional little PORSCHE sticker, the radio and harness should be all that you need.

Are there any other sources for the harness?
and has anyone moved to the Official PCM radio from Porsche after having the continental? I love a good deal, but I hate not doing things “right” the first time. 10x the cost is definitely hard to ignore however.

Does anyone have another source for the harness to change the pins over? Is using the radio without the harness going to significantly impact its operation?
Can I reverse Pin 4/7 some other way? Can I just buy a male/female extension, and switch the pins there? Is that all I need to do?

Bergvill F/X seems to no longer exist. I am replacing my CR-220 (in my 02 996 Turbo) with the Contiand and was just wondering where I can find the wiring harness that plugs plugs into the factory plugs and requires no splicing or cutting? Thank you!

I just got my radio today and installed it. So far, so good, although the harness would be nice.

I have a 993 without the Hifi, so I was essentialy able to just plug the radio in. The only downside is that it doesn't stay on without the ignition, but that's a small issue (fixed by the harness).

Does anyone have any news on Tore and his shop? I know he has issues with his new webshop because of delays with the supplier. I have a continental head unit that I used on my 968 and now want to put it in my 993, I have the HiFi option and actually the batphone option with the mic right behind the steering wheel, would be awesome to get the harness and connect it all.

Thanks guys.
We are still in business indeed, but have unfortunately been forced to abandon our first web shop vendor. They were not able to deliver what they promised. We are already well into the making of a new solution, and hope to be online soon.
I cannot provide a release date yet though, this depends on several other factors out of our control.
Cheers,
Tore

Well, fixed this. I ended up buying a short extension harness, swapped the pins (super easy to do), and now my radio turns on when my car does. All done!

We installed on '95 Cab and '98 C2S. Both with Hi-Fi. We have volume issues on both cars. Have you found this as well?
