I with juntsky on this one...I wouldn't ever try doing a burnout in my car as my interests lean toward keeping my bone stock car as perfect as the day it left the factory, I'm surprised to see such judgemental responses. Juntsky, you do you. Everyone else, mind your own business if you don't have a meaningful answer to juntsky's question.

Wasn't trying to impress you. Just showing what I consider "fun". If I found it necessary to do so, i'd go out and ruin my tires and who knows what else I'd F up. Rather break something on the track than in the Walmart P lot

I would avoid this on cars with the standard differential such as the Carreras as my take is that when the wheels slip under the huge forces involved it jackhammers the differential. This results in gouged metal fragments from the diffs ring gear to show up at the drain plug. I have also seen a Turbo Tranny opened up where one of the major splined shafts is actually twisted like the red lines on a candy cain from engine torque, not too pretty to look at!

Just rebuilt my G50 and had to replace the spiders, which are $1200 by the way. The metal that comes off can get into places you don't want it and cause other gearbox damage ($$$$).
Stick to nice smooth launches.

No way I'd beat on my 993 that way.
But my 991 does unbelievable donuts in the snow. Pirouettes like a spike is driven through the sunroof into the ground. Just bitchin.

I'll co-sign on what everyone else is saying (i.e. these cars hook, not spin, when launched hard, so you're running a real risk of breaking expensive stuff), you'll probably find yourself pushing through the locked front tires rather than sitting still in true "standstill" fashion.

What's really irksome to me is how threads like these are immortal but other threads which are arguably more "educational," like the one referred to here: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...disappear.html vanish mysteriously.
I'm not in favor of or against burnouts. I just object to how some threads are able to be censored and others aren't.

Well fair enough. Thus why the question was asked. I don't really appreciate the mom comments or Walmart comments. Everyone's idea of fun is different and while I am very capable of having lots of fun on track, I also have friends who appreciate how much fun hooning a car is. Also, take your speeding to te track if you're gonna bitch about me spinning tires in a stationary spot. A machine is a machine that can be rebuilt if broken so if I choose to run the risk of damaging parts then that's my prerogative. id rather have S much fun as I can with my cars than let an amazing piece of machinery go to waste sitting in a garage. But I'm not going to judge you for putting under 5k miles on a car in a year.

Once again...a simple question of "can you do xxxx?" turns into a huge debate over the "why would you want to do that?" The OP didn't ask what you guys think about doing a burnout in a 911?"
So to answer the question asked....yes...you can do a burnout in a 911. I've never done it, and never will...but this would probably work: wet the rears tires, rev to redline, and drop the clutch.
For the record...I think it's a very bad idea, for all the reasons listed above...BUT, if you own the car...by all means...do with it what you want...it's yours...!!
