Has anyone installed the CCU snowflake buttons from Shapeways? I bought a couple, but just for backup. The original buttons on my CCU are working satisfactorily, at least for now, so I haven't installed mine yet. Interested to know how they fit and function.

Hello all , been busy with other projects . But I got the metal AC button back from shapeways and have good news and bad news

Good news : the metal print quality is fantastic .. amazing they can print in metal so well.
Bad news , in order to print in metal they had to make the wall thickness thicker and the button does not fit.
I am waiting on my second generation design to come in plastic from shapeways to see if it works better and would have more durable legs.

I am going to try and redesign the walls of the button a bit to see if I can get it to print in metal.
I will get another test print done . if it works you can have my test x50type

Printing in metal requires the button walls to be too thick . I am going to look for another company to see if they have different requirements.

But good news !!! my second design just arrived today and it works very well. it does not have the thin legs that break off .

Old design at the top , new design in the middle , OEM button at the bottom

ok I have mocked up the rest of the buttons and posted them on the shapeways site .
I have not had any printed out . but since they are all based on the snowflake button they should all work.

Here is a link to the site . you order directly from the site so I cannot do exchanges. I am just posting them up there because they are much better quality then what I can do at home.

I am not looking to make money off of these . Just trying to payback back the help I have gotten to rennlist .
Now if you want a phone holder I would be happy to help with that

You are welcome

You can go to the shapeways site and order them. They handle the orders and printing. I just provided the design.
