Targa roofs have a bunch of plastic parts that can be printed.

I sent what I hope to be the final design of the AC button off to shapeways to be professionally printed . It should be done in a week or so and we will see if they work.

Another project I am working on for a local friend with an old Alfa.

made a gasket out of some flexible plastic that has the properties of rubber..

I actually need the defrost button. Any chance to get one made or maybe a blank button?

Also, I'll take both snowflake buttons as well. It's only a matter of time before they break. Any chance to get them in metal?

Lastly, the ashtray magnetic mount is very intriguing. Is there a cigarette socket magnetic mount version?

A defrost button or a blank could be easily made once we get the snowflake button fitted properly.
I am getting my latest model professionally printed and it should be here for fitment in the next week.
the printing company also prints in a black stainless steel.

I do not have a magnet mount for the cigarette socket mount yet. It could be made if you want one, but the benefit of the non magnet mount holders are that the phone slides into the mount and attaches to the charging cable automatically. With the magnet mount you would have to attach the loose cable that would be part of the holder to the phone.

AC button I had professionally printed on shapeways arrived today . IT FITS !!!
here is a picture of it installed. This one is the raised snowflake. I did not have any white paint so I tried a white crayon . that is why it looks a bit messy.
the tabs are just as fragile as the original so I think I will order one in black metal to see if it fits as well as the black plastic.

As soon as I figure out the shapeways web site I will post them for sale so that you can order directly from shapeways. I will also post a blank button as well . I can try to do a cut or raised design for the other buttons as well if someone wants one.

I think the plastic buttons would be about $5 and the metal ones about $20
as soon as I figure it out I will post it here.

You may want to contact ModernTech as they may have the ability to print white plastic at the same time:

if anyone wants to try a button I have posted them to the public on shapeways.
If you click on one you can order it in plastic or metal.
I have ordered a metal one to see if it will work as good as the plastic ones.
I will post a blank button also , if someone wants one of the other buttons I can try to design the icon for that button as well.

John,

Speaking of heat and the phone brackets, you may want to investigate making the brackets with "breathing" vents in the back. I find that my iPhone gets REALLY hot when using either Waze or Maps for navigation. My case has an open back (see image). And, still gets very hot. I haven't measured it. But, will, now that you note the temp at which it softens.

BTW, what is that Alfa part? PM or email me about it if you would like me to tell my Florida Alfa Club friends about it.

Cheers,

Norm

Thanks , good Idea I will put some "breathing holes" in the holders
For the Alfa part I will have to get back to you. it is some type of vent.

for the AC button I have taken a closer look at the module and have concluded there is no reason to have the little legs that break off and am redesigning it to be more solid,

see below

Do the 'legs' need the space so that they can flex outward as the button is snapped into place?

BTW, you are doing some really great work here!
