I think they would be possible to model . But I have a 964 with a different bumper. if anyone has plugs they want to lend me I will give it a go.
or if someone wants to lend me their 993 I would be game for that also, but I think I would have to hang on to it for a few miles quite a few it was a turbo ....

Ok I have a better idea of what a whole button looks like .
I have 2 versions
1 with a raised snowflake
1 with a cut snowflake that would let light shine through. (with a some paper behind it I think it would work.

I will send the CAD files off to quacktoduck who has access to a professional printer to see how they come out.

if they work I will load them on shapeways and they can be printed in metal.

John

what if you only cut the snowflake 1mm deep so you could put some white paint in there and wipe the surface clean. Just idea...

That would be easy as well. But you would loose the lit button.

Hi all , I got a report of a rennlister with one of my phone holders had an issue with a holder that was left in the car during a very hot day.

The Holder shrank slightly due to the heat, making the phone harder to slide in.
The plastic that I use melts in the printer at 350 Degrees F and has a heat deflection temp of 140 degrees (that is the point where it will start to soften).

The ashtray part does not seem to be affected , but the phone holder is thin enough to change its shape slightly.

If you have one of my holders please take it inside with you during extremely hot days.
This is the first I have seen of this, but I am sending a new holder to the rennlister that told me of the issue.

I am also looking at plastic that is dishwasher safe and can handle high temps.

Thanks
John

Thanks as soon as I get them I will compare them with the actual button.

here is an earlier design I sent off to shapeways.com to see how their prints come out.
the print was about $4 and the plastic seems pretty sturdy .

the tabs on this old design was not correct , but the ones that I sent to QuacktoDuck are.

dabbed this one in paint to see the snowflake.
Getting closer
