My baby is in the shop for 90k mile service (all fluids, filters plugs), clutch work and some other preventative items (distributor gear belt, engine mounts, serpentine setup, etc). About 30ish hours of labor plus parts.

At a shop in S. Denver that specializes in Air Cooled Porsches.

Thanks guys for a fun day. I'll never forget that special treat of riding in Pats red 993TT R. Scared me to death and felt like a kid again.

Should pick my 993 up this week... Here's some pics of worn clutch items:


This part acts a hinge or lever to move the clutch plate down the throwout rod, from what I understand.


RS lightweight flywheel, will be resurfaced as its not in bad shape


New Rod and needle bearings coming:


New Clutch Plate will be installed even though this has life:


This pressure plate will be replaced... its got a 964 p/n so from what I've been told these series of 996/964/993/951 parts all allow for a this RS setup to work in a 993.


Leakdown passed with flying colors... all 1-2% differences:


I'll get it just in time for me to head to Asia for a couple of weeks on business.

Hope to get some interesting photos in Singapore and Tokyo.

Nice work - I just did a full RS clutch for one of the 993 guys last week, and encountered quite a bit of wear on the clutch fork (enough that it actually slipped off and only one arm was pulling on the throw bearing. We replaced everything to be as good as new (fork, bearings, seals) and upgraded to a RS clutch from a DMF.

I am not sure how much "meat" is available on the RS Flywheel for machining - its it going to be turned, or ground?

You replace the RMS?

Mike, resurfacing is what the shop said they thought they could do... just very lightly...

RMS has to be replaced...

I've been traveling Asia on business for a few weeks, which was hot and humid, do not recommend visiting in early August. Wait a month.

When I returned, I picked my 993 up from Eurosport Ltd.

What did they do?

Oil and Filters Change
Replace Plugs
Replace all belts including Power Steering
Rebuild Distributor w/ new belt and bearings
Replace Cabin and Motor Air Filters
Replace Engine Insulation Pad
Replace Valve Cover Gaskets
Perform Leakdown - 1-3% across all cylinders... yeah!
New RS Clutch/Flywheel with all new brass bearings for throwout assembly
New Clutch Master and Slave cylinders
All new hyd fluid for clutch and brakes
Realign Car

I needed new rear tires as my Kumho LEs only lasted about 7,500 miles.

After riding in the Patrick's Ruf Turbo R last month, I've been playing with suspension settings to get it close to that perfect beast. My PSS10's at 7 up front and 6 in the rear are really close. Still playing.

The car just drives so well right now. Every bit of the car has been thoroughly gone through over the last 14 months.

Just hit 91K miles.

Very satisfied and content.

Nice updates John! I have been flipping a coin the past two months on whether I will send my C4 through much of the same life that your Carrera has gone through or jump into a 991 S. I was reminded several times that I cannot have both. LOL.

So far, just T-Locks, T-Lights, and a Parrot Asteroid in my desk drawer. How the heck did you get the microphone routed to your steering column?
