Remote Key Fob Programming made Easy Revised!
Probably makes sense to replace both the 3-position Ignition Switch (964 613 012 00) - http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...on-switch.html
AND
the "buzzer contact ignition lock" (911 613 125 00) - https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ct-switch.html
while I'm in there, yes?

Sure enough, sending +12V from the battery to gong relay pin 85 made my immobilizer light come on! Thanks for doing the heavy lifting on this one

I had the same problem (post 81) and used a simple workaround to get through programming. @Dubbed743 did the same in post 90. A more detailed discussion of the problem and workaround can be found here. If you'd rather fix the problem, a new buzzer switch is inexpensive and will often do the trick, but there's an outside chance the problem isn't the switch but the mechanism actuating the switch - a more difficult and expensive repair.
If you're like most owners and just want to add spare fob, there's a much easier way now that bypasses programming completely: the F2 Self-programming fob (User's Guide attached). Instead of PIN codes and programming all you do is hold the F2 next to your OEM fob and hold both buttons down for 10 seconds. Instant backup, no hassles. It's available in stock in both 315MHz and 433 MHz versions.

Here's the procedure;
1. Open door, insert key, and turn key to run mode. Immobilizer light should come on.
2. After about 15 seconds, the light should go off. Turn key off then on (cycle key).
3. After about 15 seconds, the light will start to flash on/off. Cycle the key to enter each
of the four digits. Wait about a second between each digit.
4. If the code is correct, the light will again begin to flash on/off. Depress the button on each remote.
5. Turn the key off, exit the vehicle, close the door, and test each remote.
6. If step #3 doesn't occur, the ignition switch is most likely bad. The immobilizer then needs to be
programmed externally.
If step #1 doesn't occur, you may have a problem with the ignition switch.

I've seen this before on my immobilizer, when an incorrect code was previously entered.
This sometimes requires waiting a few hrs before another attempt is made.
Also, if the ignition switch contacts are intermittent, the procedure becomes problematic.
