Remote Key Fob Programming made Easy Revised!
Document updated 6/23/2017
Dear Rennlisters,
Below is an easy to follow step by step chart to deactivate the ignition
immobilizer and add remote key fobs to your 1995 on 993 (up to 4 fobs total).
It makes the process easier to follow when you are in the car actually going
through the process.

Burning Brakes
Just followed your instructions and had success after using the correct four digit code instead of the four digit key code on that same card.
Thanks a bunch!

It makes the process easier to follow when you are in the car actually going
through the process. I recently updated the form by adding setup steps to the beginning of the form and notes at the end on how to do the process.
-fill in your cars immobilizer code digits on Setup Steps 3 through 6 and
-keep the form in a safe place for an emergency.

Still working up courage to try, but I think my lights are double blinking so maybe a no go. Is it possible to mess up the working fob by trying to program a new one?

Gave it a go yesterday, could not get the system into programming mode. I am sure its operator error as I must have turned the ignition switch too far and had the horn alarm go off a couple of times. Will attempt again today

If the light on the door is double blinking first check you battery voltage it should be 12.5+ volts at rest and 13.5+ running. If the voltage checks out make sure the doors are closed and the dome light extinguishes as if any of the lights including the truck light stays on because of a closure switch alignment issue the lights won't go out and I beleive it does not allow the immobalizer to go into "primed' state
. As a last resort disconnect your battery for ten or more seconds, reconnect and see if it clears the double blinking. If not you will need to sort out an electrical issue with your alarm system. I have never had the horn alarm go off during the programming steps.

Thanks for the reply. The alarm system seems to arm fine. no double blinking, car is on a trickle charger so I would think the battery is fine. When doc says, wait 3 mins for the alarm to prime are we saying for the alarm to set itself and the LED starts blinking again? and that's when you start the first step?
thanks for the help. this is the kind of crap that drives me nuts.

I finally figured out my problem with programming my new remote, figured I'd share here in case someone else is as dumb as me.
there was a thread about LED bulbs, which I have in the front trunk light, didn't seem to be an issue. Had the interior lights turned off, moved them to on. No idea if that was a help or not. But closing the engine lid was sure helpful, doh!. I always leave mine up after I drive the car and tend to keep it open cause I am lazy. Well that sucker needs to be closed for it to work and it did like a charm.

Fob programming
Just learned that the code to program the immobilizer is the last 4 digits of the immobilizer serial number
