Mine came from the factory with Mobil 1 15-50. I have continued to use it for almost 16 years and 102,000 miles with no issues. Why would I change?

I prefer a 70:30 mixture of Peanut oil and Sesame Oil for high temperature operation.

Seriously though,
I used to use Mobil 1 TDT 5w-40 but am switching to Rotella T6 5W-40 at my next oil change. Same thing goes into my Jetta TDI.

This might end up being a long thread!

doridori,

As you can already tell from the answers, this topic is one that gets made fun of a lot. Search on: what type of oil to use, what's new on the mobil1 front, oil choices, etc. You will find 100000 opinions, some very good data, and lots of snarky comments like the above.

The dynos consistently show baby oil being an inexpensive 30hp gain.

Just takes a lot of babys to make 12 quarts of oil.

As I suggested in the other thread you posted, the one asking how often to change oil, try the search function to find dozens if not hundreds of posts asking this same question. Mobil 1.

Brad Penn changed their formula about a year and a half ago. Still has the high ZDDP you are looking for, but its viscosity appears to be shearing by 40% in 8k miles. At least that is the way looks to me. I still like it--but make sure you get the racing version if you use it. Do not worry about it screwing up your cats, it won't. I personally am going to use motul at my next change.
Whatever brand you decide on you probably want to get a 50 weight oil for the high temps these motors run at. ie 10w-50 or 15w-50

See Charles Navarro's well written and researched info on the LN engineering website.

Redline is a good product, Mobile 1 is a bit too commercial.
