Now that is something that Chuck, even in his current condition, would love! He is riding ON a Porsche. Hope that can bring him a smile.
Food in the lungs usually means they can't swallow anymore...... Very Sad.

Grant definitely brought a smile to Chuck's face with a recent ride in a Porsche
Happy Rennlister memories to revisit, June 26's surprise visit (facilitated by master-enabler 3healey):
Chuck looked great & was all smiles, as he was chauffered to work in style. Who wouldn't be, in a Grant's "limousine!"
Grant planned it for a month; with help from Chuck's wife.
CSertich was happy when Grant's 993 pulled up to take him to work ... but wondered why Grant's 2-seater already had a passenger
Grant's Zenith Blue beauty pulling up in the driveway behind Chuck's immaculate 993:

Sharing lots of laughs as we all enjoyed getting together again, Chuck admired 3healey's ride.
Chuck was thrilled with Grant's recent powder-coating...
...but curious how 3 adults would fit in a 993

...Luckily, I enjoyed the only other time I've ever ridden in the back of a 911: as a 4-year-old in my uncle's Porsche.
So that brought back fun memories & we all enjoyed the short drive to Chuck's office - a wonderful drive on a beautiful day.
Chuck's sharp wit cracked us up; we chuckled all the way to work.

in the meantime, Grant & I gladly waited at the Porsche/ Audi/ VW dealer, imagining what would make a fun ride for RJT:

When he was done being a much more productive member of society than we were being Chuck had another surprise back home:
RLer DanielD came by to see his buddy.
Just about the only thing Daniel's more enthusiastic about than his 928 is his friend, Chuck.
Chuck doesn't miss a thing, & had to check out every inch of Dan's Porsche.

Daniel has a great big heart, & an easy laugh. It was great getting to know him, & seeing more big smiles on Chuck's face.
What a great grin -- this is the Chuck we all know

My pleasure; glad to remind of some of the joy Chuck has given to so many.
LUV that shot, it's the man I'll always remember.
From my first PM with Chuck I've always been amazed by his quick wit and humor. Talking to him in June, & even after the July WI seizure was no different: so high-spirited, warm, and sharp while we chatted. An inspiration.
Great example:
When Chuck got back from work, he couldn't find his glasses.
He called the office to tell his secretary he left them there. While on the phone, he noticed them laying in front of him at his house.
Without skipping a beat, he instantly said in a perfectly serious tone, "Now, if you're done wasting my time, my glasses are right here."
The whole room erupted in guffaws A classic Chuck moment.

I met the newest additions to the Sertich family since I visited last November: Amber & Dex!
They've been a welcome distraction for the whole family, helping them through challenging times.

Back outside again, Chuck admired the Porsches assembling in his driveway.
Still soaking up every angle of Dan's 928!

He's shared so much with RL, there's not much I can share to that compares -- I'm glad you're enjoying the pics.
During our June 26 surprise visit, Chuck was proud to share details of his 993 - each modification, & especially of every individual RLer that helped him make his 911 into his pride & joy.
He has an incredible memory. Since meeting him last Nov to drive him in my 993 (& our very eventful 'pit stop'), I've enjoyed every talk we've had -- Chuck's full of memories & stories of interactions with his RL & PCA friends through the decades.
...& if he ever forgets something briefly, he's quick to say he's lost some of his mind. Picture Chuck's wry grin, & you know the humor
He's never complained to me about the d**n cancer, though I know it would kick my butt.
I think the world of you, Chuck.
He's been given every reason to be bitter. A few months ago, his doctor abruptly declared he'd never drive again. I could hear momentary despair in Chuck's voice, the doc had inadvertently killed his patient's morale at the expense of trying to keep the rest of him alive.
Instead of dwelling on the negative & perhaps giving into a final spiral, Chuck stated with conviction that he was setting goals, to keep himself going.
The first was to work with his doctor, doing whatever it took to slowly get closer to hopefully driving his beloved 993 again.
It nearly means the world to him.
