Default Bought another air-cooled car... kind of a Porsche

I picked up this 1964 Beetle last week in SoCal. Black plate California car from new. Kind of a Porsche... we'll designed by Porsche...

That is an awesome car! I love the color combo. I've found myself ogling a few lately. This one really gets me...

I'd really like to do a road trip but I'm not sure that a cross country ride in a 46 year old car is the brightest thing to do in January!!! Intercity will most likely get the call...

Looks great. My grandmother's bug had that color combination. Very fond of those cars.

How nice!

Just looking at the pics brings back memories. Like that **** between the hand brake and shifter; that was the heater control if I remember. Then there is the hood release on the left under the dash. Also the mechanical fuel gauge. I take it it still has the 6V system which went to 12V in 1967.

Would that have been a 1200 or 1300 motor? With the Bosch blue coil, it must really go.

Jason - great looking bug!

I had a 65 when I was 19... It was a slightly darker shade than yours & the body area under the stainless trim line was a maroon color - I even had the same front parcel shelf... I lowered mine & put a set of 16" Fuchs on it with cream wall tires. The rear luggage area is a serious bass bin!!! That car got me more girls than any other.

Enjoy.

This 64 has an awesome if undriveable stance and what can I say about the wheels?!?!? If mine didn't have the wide bolt pattern I'd go with a set of Fuchs but such is not the case...

Default That is a sweetheart, be a shame to start customizing it

That is a little jewel. Please don't do any modifications that can't be reversed. There are plenty of others not so pristine to customize.

Nice find, though! Jeff
