The camber is incredible. I am not sure on the rear end setup yet. The front has a two inch narrowed and fully adjustable beam with 2.5 inch dropped and offset spindles. The rear is down on adjusted spring plates, but it sits a little bit too low for my taste. I have to do some more research on the other options back there. All in all I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

I just read this thread from start to finish. I have to say I was quite sad when I finished because it was over! Brilliant thread! I'm planning to buy a Type 1 Bug in the next year or so, so it was lovely to see beginning of the ownership process for you!

Any updates? Pictures?

BUMP!

Wow, very cool! I just love old Beetles! My dad had an all original '65 Beetle until very recently. I have no idea why he sold it, and why it wasn't to me!! I had a '74 convertible as my first car. Blue with white top.

What a great thread. I cannot get too far away from bugs but I sometimes stray from aircooled. At least my 79 Beetle convert is an aircooled 2.6L.

I will have to get a little further with my Franken-STEEN project and post it. #85 of 100 Meyers Manx Signature dunebuggy, tube frame, 350hp Subaru STi engine, 930 trans, uni-ball with KW coilovers on 944T rear suspension, 993T Big Reds, hollow turbo 18's and Recaro Profi's. Maybe 1400 pounds with severe motivation...

Stay tuned.
