Moving along quickly , I see. Around here it would take a year to get that much work done.

Amazing
I know - it's scary! I have to say though - I helped (and thoroughly enjoyed myself), the technical knowledge that Ninemeister have means that they know exactly what sequence of events has to take place to ensure you're not duplicating or re-visiting an area twice.
Lets just hope that the re-build is as easy!
For the next few weeks / months I can only spectate

Well - I've now owned this 993 Cabrio for two weeks - or should I say this collection of parts! I just hope the previous owner doesn't see his (ex)-P&J like this!
So another 5 days in the workshop - and first of all we had to make sure that the 964 Speedster doors fit the aperatures - which they do! Colour match from a distance shows that they were destined for this car!! (Just wait 'till they hit the acid tank!)

Then time to remove the outer skins! - front first

Then the rear

Then the side

Now time to ebay!!

And to think the previous owner had the car valletted for me just before I collected it 15 days ago

Wait for the next installment.......................... Graham

So this weeks update!
The left hand side of the car is taking shape - the new reinforced turbo kidney bowls, hidden under the sills have been fully welded in, as have the internal quarter panels. New rear quarter has been tacked on and gapped to the door aperature. Extra reinforcing is being fabricated and then be fully welded between the A & B posts to increase the torsional stiffness. The 993 cab already has an extra 'top hat' stiffener within the sill void, but additional metalwork can only help!

So - wide? You get the picture!

Awesome. As someone previously stated, it would take a year for that much progress here in the States. Most shops here are quite pathetic by comparison

It's now officially been 'christened' a Speedster! - (well with masking tape anyway)

Also picked up the C2S split grilles from OPC, all these little bits add up :0

Graham - Do you have plans to reinforce the chasis or install a roll bar/cage?

I have a question for Colin.... or Graham if you know...

Why did you need to place the car on the Sellette? Especially as it was proven a straight chassis.

???

I am not Colin or Graham, but can answer it for you....

Puting it on the bench is a great idea to ensure when you are cutting off and re-welding panels that the car remains straight. All these panels add structural integrity to the car. And any welding can cause issues if it is not held in place, hence the Cellette.

Porsche factory repair manuals also recommend this when removing and replacing certain body parts (those that are welded)...
