Lightbulb Add rear fog lights or second set of brighter brake lights --- Why not both??

I wanted to install the rear fog light option per the P-car.com procedure. The switch would fill the blank spot on the dash and maybe one foggy day I would have a safer drive, and more importantly I was running out of improvements to the car. Just prior to completing the job I read the thread about wiring the second set of lights to the brakes. Now this upgrade would make for a safer ride every day. I couldn't make a decision so I did both. I bought a relay from radio shack. I wired the extra lights to the normally closed circuit and to the brakes. Now anytime I apply the brakes all four lights are activated. I wired the rear fog switch to power the relay and wired the normally open circuit to power. When I pull the switch the two rear fog lights are powered on. It works great.

I'm planning on the brake light mod as well. I haven't torn into it, but I'm curious if there is any way to make the center panel (porsche) light up???? Now THAT would be cool! And one big @ss brake light....

Very cool +1. I want to do this next, but I think the wiring from switch on dash to lights is over my head...........I'll just do the extra brakelights.

Are there two foglights over in the old country or one? I know Mercedes has just one fog on the left and I remember the older 911s had one external fog mounted on the left rear. If I did the rear fog mod, I'd be inclined to just wire up one on the left side.

I did it for Sweden and it took finding a used one from Canada-then took the bulb units and switched them out in mine.In the end Sweden did not even care if I did this but I like the look-plus really good in the fog.

I believe there are two as original equipment. I did this install and only put one on the drivers side because rear fogs aren't that common in the US (or legal everywhere either) so I thought the single would be less likely to be confused with brake lights.

For those with movable spoilers, this may be a consideration, from the "I hate my basket handle" thread:

But, since it is a cab, I do not have the option of the roof mounted 3rd brake light.

What, if anything, can be done about this?

Anyone who can tap into their brake light feed should be able to install this self-adhered LED strip.

Probably OT, but cool car/ idea/ photography from a cool RLer:
There may be more LED inspiration on the 356 forum, on Q's impressive "retro tech project for my 356... LED brake light & indicator upgrade" thread
