OBDI circuit board group buy - ROUND 2

For those getting close to testing, raycm (the circuit inventor) compiled a great thread with information about using Doug Boyce's ScanTool software on the 993.

For you guys who still want to build it but don't have a board, it's relatively easy to do it on a piece of perfboard with wire-wrap, using the schematic in the link above. It's more involved than soldering the PCB, but that's how I built my first one and it worked out OK.

Today I finish my first test on the car. IT WORKED!! I was able to read the code. There was only one code showing: 19 - Unknown Fault Code. Does anyone knows what this code is ?
THANKS A LOT COLIN!!!!..and all the guys who contributed to make this happened.

Colin, I am now ready to test
My laptop PC does not have a serial port so I need to convert to USB - how do you identify the correct converter type? Mine says RoHS compliant.
Make sure the USB -=> RS-232 converter uses an FTDI chip and you should be okay.

#@%&# ... Mine doesn't!
I'm 100% sure of my connection cables. I'll check the parts on the board. It's too easy to put a diode the opposite way... If anyone has a way to test the components when soldered on the card...you're welcome! ...definitely easier to land in rain with 35 knots x-wind!!!
I used a pmcia card with a serial port.
Mmasse congratulations

Ok the afternoon is sunny, the beer is fresh but... My scantool4 fail to connect to COM1! Of course, I have only COM4 and 5 (I found that in the system file). No scantool file in my c:/windows either.
So I created a directory in windows called scantool. Then I created a ini file with [Comm Settings]
port=COM4. No way my scantool still want to connect to COM1!
How do you vchange that?

It's in the readme ...
1.) As delivered scantool uses COM PORT 1.
This can be changed to another COM PORT #.
Look for a text file called "scantool.ini" It's likely in c:\windows if you're running XP.
Add the following to the file if you want to overide the default com port. Assign port= to
whatever com port you want:
[Comm Settings]
port=COM1
cheers, Maurice

Yes Maurice, I read that but that file doesn't exist! And when I create it, scantool doesn't seem to care about it! So I'm stuck! A good night sleep and tomorrow I'll may find where the trap is.

I tried all what's written in the read me, but no way! I can't force that Scantool program to use another port than COM1!!!
Could somebody help in being more explicit about how to do it?
Thanks

looking for someone with an extra board or interest in another run? I'd be willing to organize, provided we have a big enough group.
I'm willing to assemble too.
