Hi guys.
I have a 1997 C2S with electric seats. Just bought her and only 12K miles!!! What a find, basically like a new car.
I've seen a few people mentioning an active sub under the seat.
How easy is it to fit? Drilling needed? How about wiring? My alpine head unit has RCA outs for a sub. Do the power and earth leads need to go direct to the battery?
Many thanks..... PS Alpine, Blaupunkt and Pioneer all do small subs which fit under seats.
Cheers
Bob

I'd be interested in this as well. I've thrown so much money at my system and it still sucks big time with no sub. Rod Birch solution is nice, but rather spendy. Some type of powered sub that can fit under a seat would be nice... especially in a cab.

You have to check your nearest blaupunkt retailer, if not, try ebay, if not, I will send you one.
After a quick search, it seems that blaupunkt used different refs. for this sub depending on country of sale,
it sells also under blaupunkt VSB 120 or CMS 265, but its the same unit.
I did not need to fasten it. I passed the cables under the front carpet, hooked the sub, and pulled back the cables so that the sub blocks. Refitted the front carpets. It never moved.

Another option for a powered subwoofer is the Kenwood KSC-SW1, which used to be called the WooX. I had a woox and sold it (duh), but just bought the SW1 on ebay for $150 new. (Crutchfield is $250). Seems to fit in the rear footwell, probably wouldn't fit under a seat.

If you can spare $2-3K, Rod Birch can hook you up with an amazing system.

He just installed a system in my car, and it is outstanding.

I have had really expensive systems in my cars, P cars that is, and no matter how hard I try, or how much gear i find in my store, they always suck when the car is going. In the garage they sound awesome, but drive a bit and you might as well have the stock bass less system. Under seat subs are fine but are really not that great. The Alpine unit was the best I had.
I give up now! Even today i just installed some new high end Alpines and a new amplifier, and i still didn't learn

I couldn't find a (smallish/flat) Blaupunkt sub here anywhere, even on ebay. I ordered a Clarion unit, cheap. I'm going to try it in the 968 since I drive that car more and it's head unit has a sub-out. I'll be putting the unit under the pass. seat.
Edit: the Clarion unit is too big to fit under the seat of the 968 and I expect it's too big for the 993 too. So I just stood it up on it's edge on the footwell panel of the rear pass. seat. It's not pretty but I don't carry any rear seat pass. in the 968 and that car isn't a "pretty" car anyway.

Hello Jack, if it is compatible with the original factory 1997 setup, I don't know.
But the unit I have installed is a factory option becker traffic pro, 100% compatible with a Subwoofer line out.
cheers
