It seems they have integrated Apple Car Play in the new version. Would be interesting to see how it works.
That is awesome!

Apple Car Play is awesome! Have it in all my other vehicles... Doubt you can upgrade it to the existing unit. Shucks!

It says Europe only. I wonder if they'll release it here. Licensing costs may not warrant it for such low volume.

If I recall correctly, the original Classic Radio was Europe only for quite a while (several years I think) and some people were even ordering it from Europe for use in the US before they eventually made a north america version. Whether and how quickly they roll it out in North America may depend on the uptake they got in the first version.

Sweet! Thanks for posting. I heard timing was early summer, but maybe that’s EU release. Hopefully North America follows shortly after. I sent a message to Suncoast and they weren’t anticipating until end of the year / beginning of 2021.

Cool! You have at least one buyer. If there’s a line, can I get in it?

That means you'd get only European radio stations, right?

Are there two versions coming out because this double-DIN sized radio won't fit in a 993.

Double din is interesting for 996... here’s a photo of the single din showing CarPlay

Yeah, but the navigation won't work in the US. I would also expect the US version to have Sirius/XM support instead of European digital radio

Where are folks seeing this as showing CarPlay? I'm missing it.

Go to the Porsche newsroom there’s photos and detailed info

I’m personally very excited for the 996 version. The 996 stereo is an absolute garbage MOST based fiber optic system that’s not easily upgraded.

There are many good options for the simpler 993/964 and older cars (Continental from Tore or the new Blaupunkt retro Bremen) but the CarPlay integration in the Single DIN form factor is a huge benefit now.
