DAB (DAB+) is the European equivalent of "FM HD" that we have in the US. Different systems but same concept. Higher quality audio signal with less noise/fuzz. The FCC does not allow DAB in the US, only FM HD. Something to do with the difficulties in regulating the frequencies used across such a large land mass as the US.

I thought it was the equivalent of Sirius.

Probably unlikely. SiriusXM has moved to a universal tuner that is used broadly across all stereo OEM’s. This was a decision SiriusXM made a few years ago to help streamline their aftermarket stereo strategy, I believe. They’re on the 3rd version of this same tuner protocol and interface.
I’m not sure there remains any current head unit that still has the SiriusXM tuner built directly in.
Would love to be proven wrong. Another dongle hanging off the back is never more preferable.

DAB is short for Digital Audio Broadcast. .. The DAB+ variety uses an updated downward compatible scheme. .. Used mostly in RoW countries, not in the USA. .. What is called FM HD or HD Radio is similarly used in the States. .. Many metro market FM radio stations also broadcast their programming in HD Radio. ..
