I kinda went the opposite tack. A '23 42 mile Z06 was added to my '23 C4S to keep miles down on both, while crappy weather is handled by my Ram 2500. The more pressing problem is that my fiancèe demands her SUV be in the garage too. So, with an even dumber decision, ground was just broken on my property to create a second garage with enough height to add a couple of lifts. The Porsche and Vette now rotate between my garage and her's til the new garage is finished!

I park a pre-owned Macan S outside as our 3rd car. I call it the beater-Porsche. Paid about $39k for a 2016 with around 30k miles in 2021. Almost 90k miles now. I have a need for it though for work trips. I can’t fit all of my tools and luggage in the 911 nor can I take it to customer facilities. I would get a 3rd vehicle if you have an actual need for it. I wouldn’t get one just to keep miles off of the 911.

My 2016 Cayenne with 188K+ miles looks new and bullet proof. No reason my 2024 992 won't do the same.

A 2nd car is nice. I have Toyota 4Runner when there is parking in crappy places, need extra capacity, or want to be stealthy.

Pretty sure your 2024 has a lot more electronics and adaptive systems that have a higher chance of failing.
Still too early to tell tho. I guess only time will tell.

We had a blue 4runner back in 2003, and a blue Celica back in 2001. And a red 4Runner from 2010-2020. But yeah, everything else has been black or gray.
Not a huge fan of flashy/colors. The IS500 paint color name is Incognito

Yolo is right. I’m almost mid-40’s, and it’s to the point now where friends of my age are coming down with the C word. Life can be short. Enjoy every day as responsibly as possible.

I totaled my first Launch Edition IS500 a few years back, they only made 500 of them in the US…..Took 6 months, and I found another 1 of 500…. I started driving my Tundra every other day to keep the miles off of the new IS500….
My friend that sucked me into track days, and Porsches told me last year - “you don’t enjoy driving the truck, just drive the damn Lexus..and enjoy it”.
I listened to him, and have put 20K miles on it in just over a year. My local Lexus dealer said I have double the miles over all the other IS500’s they service.
I smile a lot more than I ever would’ve in the Tundra.
(I still drive the truck to pull toys/do truck stuff, just don’t daily it).

If you do need a 2nd rig that can haul kids, I’d make it a lot more fun than a Pilot.

Yes.B58. Before my 992 I drove a 2020 Z4 M40 as my fun car. Still miss the low down torque occasionally when driving the 911.
The B58 in combo with the ZF8 is an amazing drivetrain…

I like how you didn't surrender your garage space; instead you just built another, lol - greatness

I agree with not driving a less fun platform, life is short. Just sold our “beater” 2021 BMW X3 M4. Amazing powertrain but combination of poor ride and handling compared to our GTS family (991.1, 970.2 and 9Y0) was making it the last choice for me. I’m not an SUV person so the Cayenne is my least favorite, but it is still quite enjoyable/amazing to drive.

You can get a daily driver like mine. It's a Toyota Corolla Cross. Total out the door with taxes is $35K It's very versatile and quite roomy with AWD and the 2nd row seats fold down flat for carrying larger items.

Daily Beater

Since 2009 my "second car" was another 911 . The third car was the rational one . I was originally was planning in the new GTS but now wait the Gt3 to see if its. a on hybrid .
Thus second and third car are as follows .

M2 + Boxster = 911?

A 4/4S and you only need room for a winter set of rims/tires. 2nd car solved.
