Well, my father did once dig the vegetable garden in his dress uniform…but he had spent the day at functions in the officers mess!

I started on manuals at 14 and recently went pdk. I don't agree with your statement at all. In the 992 I could spend 99% of my canyon time in 2nd gear. Give me and older momentum car and there is a lot of 2-3-4-3-2 action on the same road.
A manual in a modern car just isn't the same. Light clutch. Hill assist, stall assist, blip, etc.

C2S will use a detuned version of the hybrid GTS powertrain then, as we suspected? So the 3.6L hybrid and not the 3.0L engine?

I think it would be sad to see the targa and cabs not available with a manual. Those cars already compromise a bit of performance for pure enjoyment so to me those are the ones that should be offering manual. Those buyers aren't the ones trying to squeeze every last drop of performance.

I am still hoping that the S will actually just have the 3.0L or new 3.6L flat-6 with the single e-turbo, no electric motor assist, and have a manual available with it. I don't mind the electric motor assist, but I would rather have the manual option. I do love the sound that the turbo waste gate in the 992.1 base Carrera makes though after revving it up and then letting up. If there is no manual option for the S, I do think the ~2026 base Carrera 4 Cabriolet with PDK might be the way I go. Either way, I would rent them both or go to PECLA first.

I’m as much of a manual fanboi as the next guy, but geez guys, if 90% of your driving was bumper to bumper you’d STILL want a manual? If that was my situation I’d just get a cheap car for commuting that has good ACC so it handles slow traffic on autopilot. The “oh this is an experience” mantra would certainly get old after the 200th clutch release in 1 mile.
I would rate driving preferences from best to worst as:
Manual not in traffic > Manual in traffic > enormous gap > automatic not in traffic > automatic in traffic.
