Agree! Maybe they'll even give it a whale tail as retro callback to the last time Porsche offered a RWD 911 Turbo - the 964 Turbo! (992 Sport Classic doesn't count)

I'd definitely be interested in something like that.

I must not have noticed this over the past four decades of driving manuals.

The 7 speed manual 911 clutch is so light that unless you have a disability, “giant pain in the ***” is a little hyperbolic.

could probably retrofit with some clever wiring.

I’m as much of a manual fanboi as the next guy, but geez guys, if 90% of your driving was bumper to bumper you’d STILL want a manual? If that was my situation I’d just get a cheap car for commuting that has good ACC so it handles slow traffic on autopilot. The “oh this is an experience” mantra would certainly get old after the 200th clutch release in 1 mile.

I've had M/T's on every performance car I've ever owned . . . . except my current C2S. While I much prefer the Zen of a M/T, the reality of Los Angeles Traffic, IMHO makes a PDK the better choice for me.

Stop and go sucks no matter what. At least with a manual you get to practice your clutch/throttle technique.

If you have actually driven a manual 992, I don't see how you can find this particular manual to be a "giant pain in the *** in heavy bumper to bumper traffic". It's just slightly more work at best. I just drove one 200 miles in Southern California traffic. I used to drive a 2005 Subaru STi in Southern California traffic every day and that was at times a chore because that car had a heavy clutch and no auto rev matching. I actually had to put in foot work on that car. The 992 manual is a breeze.
No it's not an incorrect generalization.

Interesting thread. If you grew up driving manuals and know how to drive one, then an all PDK world seems like a let down from a lifetime of enjoyment involved in driving the car as more of an extension of your body, using both hands and feet at the same time. One of my favorite cars of all time was a ‘70 E type roadster that had a bad synchro from first to second gear. If you didn’t hit the rpms just right, you couldn’t shift into 2nd. I could drive that car like no one else and could shift into any gear without using the clutch since I knew it so well. I still miss it.

The only thing that may tempt me away from our current 7 speed Targa 4S would be a Turbo Targa 4S with a 7 speed and 5 bolt wheels. I’m not too worried about that combo coming to life.

Whether you noticed or not, I'd say your stated position is an affectation.

Give me a break, I've driven manuals since 1974.
