I doubt this will happen for the 992.2, but I wonder if the 994.1 carrera will gain the double wishbone front suspension?

it doesn’t make sense to do on a non-GT car. i guess it could as an option for guys that track cars. it has been used in race cars for years but really wouldn’t be beneficial for street driving.

Doubt it because of cost. If it is even available, Porsche will make it a part of a very expensive suspension option or package. Porsche’s motto: “ We never overlook an opportunity to make more money”.

Miata has had it for decades now, as does the Honda Accord. S2000 did too.

Most Mercedes have double suspension, heck even a Tesla has double suspension.

So it has nothing to do whether the car in question is mainly a Point A to B to Point A car, or a "race car" (whatever that means).

The reason that Porsche 911s never had double wishbone was because of cost-cutting initially, but after decades of penny pinching, they had refined it so much (i.e. widening the front track) and put so much R&D into the McPherson Struts that it didn't make sense to make the swtich.

But refinement can only do so much to defy the laws of physics. At some point, the engineers win over the accountants. Hence the 992 GT double wishbone.

My Acura sedan had Double Wishbone Front suspension. It's not that mystical.

Even the rear wheel steer. Been around for ages. But Porsche sure does know how to market it.

The Dodge Stealth / Mitsubishi 3000GT had rear wheel steer in 1991!

…And they had the front and rear active aero as well! (…and the tiny rear seats!).
