992.2 Info
From the practical perspective, I prefer Start / Stop button. It doesn’t stick out, so I will not connect it with my knee-cap. And frankly, I don’t admire buttons on the lower dash, as much as I do on the upper.
They could have matched the start/stop button to the rest of the milled switchgear in the cabin. Porsche claims they did it to keep consistency with other models like the Panamera and the Taycan but they didn't even keep consistency within the cabin
Same, I prefer the button, HOWEVER what they've done looks completetly crap. They should have kept the same triangle shape from 992.1, like this: https://prnt.sc/vBTd5LlwF_C2
They should make the button brushed black aluminium like the GTS trim as well. It looks bad and if its plastic (and it 99% looks like plastic) it will feel bad.
Very different approach from lambo, which makes their switch to start the car feel absolutetly special, like ur launching the rocket.
I recently had a Cayenne loaner for a week . My first reaction was similar to the pushback expressed on this thread . When I handed it back I missed having it.
Buttons are the same just a different housing for the 911.
I get it that this is a cost savings move but I guarantee when the press has a chance to ask Porsche specifically about this the answer they will give is “Porsche owners tend to own multiple Porsche cars and this helps unify the add familiarity between the models” or something to that effect.
I’ve worked too long in consumer products…

Yeah, quite the "hack." I noticed during the Savagegeese video with the Porsche engineer, he mentioned the base got a few powertrain tweaks including using the turbochargers from the previous iteration of the GTS and a bump in power relative to the outgoing model. The Porsche engineer nodded in agreement but we're trying to get some clarity on that to confirm. I don't know the requirements for the various regulations, but perhaps having a common turbo between the base and S helps simplify some of those requirements around emissions, etc. If true, I think when they run the 992.2 T, that will be "THE ONE." From what I can see, it looks like the base and S will carry the 992.1 power plant and possibly the next generation 911 will begin to use some iteration of the new 9A3 engine across the line up. Just my speculation.

Man that looks so tacked on. Should've just put it somewhere nice like on the steering wheel or even the right side ignition like most cars. I remember getting in a rental BMW and couldn't figure out where to turn it on because the button was in a non standard location.
This is far from the most egregious change on the .2 to me. I have been victim to the current "key ****" being in the way of my knee on entry - it does not feel good.
I actually have a funny question.
How is that even possible, with extra torque and initial speed up GTS version should transfer the power way worse then 992.1 GTS, while .2 GTS and 4GTS have same 0-100km (or 0-60mph) stats?
https://prnt.sc/gafxGHoe9Im8
How is that even possible that rear and 4wd car have same 0-60mph? WIth that much extra torque the difference should be bigger then .1 GTS vs 4GTS, where it was 0.2s difference.

Thanks for the answer anyway.
