I sat down yesterday with my SA here in Germany to lock my final configuration and he said that the facelift will not be on the market before Q3 2024. I asked him if he was kidding, but he confirmed information as of today. Only thing that will be changed for MY 24 is a 5% price increase. He is a decent person and I know that he is not a wacko. So, seems that everything will be postponed by approx. a full year!

That suits me fine, as I intend to keep the new 992 T for 2 years. However, I am not entirely convinced, as we see so many 992.2 mules all over the interwebs, the release must be nearer.

For those of us (including me) who want a 2023 992* but don't yet have an allocation (like me) this is good news. I assume "on the market" means the beginning of production of the 2025 models will be in very late August 2024/early September 2024.
*No body style changes and no interior changes (including keeping the analog tachometer).

The mules make me think as well, but the SA was so deadly serious in quoting first hand information from Porsche
Anybody else who have heard about a significant postponement of the facelift?

a few weeks ago I put a deposit in an C2. Discussed I would like to take delivery in Q1 of 24. He said oh you will get the 992.2 then. I asked about hybrid he said no not yet.

It makes sense that the 2023 MY 911 will be a longer model year - with all these special editions that need to complete their production runs based on the 992.1, you would think they would clear the decks of all those builds/orders before they spin the 992.2s.
My SA in the US also said that the 992.2 will be coming in 2024 as MY25. He said that was official information their received internally from Porsche.
I'm not sure I believe it as we see so many mules out there. On the flip side, I agree they just launched a few new models (T, Dakar, GT3RS) so it could make sense that we get one more year of .1
New fresh pictures coming in from South Africa, camo is slowly coming off. I was not expecting such a big change in the rear light bar. The design will be different to current generation apparently.
the most intrigating thing is that there is no turbo intakes in the rear bumper ! is N/A back ? (may be hybrid for emissions concerns)
ps : the location of the exhaust means nothing, it was nearly the same in the 991.2.

Reason: word mistake (raer -> rear)
I meant electric powered turbocharger instead of the traditional exhaust powered turbochargers.
Wasnt this something that Porsche had applied for some kind of patent on or announced they were working on?
I think one of the Audis are already using a system like this but the patent shows the hot side powering a generator that can spool the cold side by electric motor. I used to fly RC planes and the newer stuff is crazy. The motors are so efficient and powerful its hard to stay with gas unless youre looking to stay aloft for longer.
Would be awesome to see a 911 turbo that works better, is lighter and does it on a cheap fuel. I worked at the Los Alamos laboratory for 6 years, they arent all in with alternative fuels but I did see groups working on Algae, Fuel cells as well as PU power. Id usually ask the R&D folks what they were doing when I saw experiments and they were excited to share but you could tell the money for such experiments were no where near the money that goes into the weapons side of the house. It seems the system is made to work for the DOD. The gains for cars are done by smart people inside the aviation and automotive side of the house or even guys in the garage.
