With the caveat again that I don't think the 4.0 shows up in the 992 until maybe an end of life special edition: I'm kind of done with just trying to have the fastest cars. Between EVs and Turbos its almost like EVERYTHING decent is as fast as you can use in day to day driving. Basically everything from a BMW M3 and up performance wise is fairly similar in day to day life. I have a Jeep Wrangler with a 6.4L V8 in it that almost is too fast for day to day driving (but one of the most fun cars I've owned). I was in Tulum over new years and ended up with a rental car with a manual and had so much fun in a ****ty little 3 pedal car that I'm rethinking my car-buying going forward and a 4.0NA Manual transmission 911 with a very heavily optioned top notch interior is starting to sound perfect for me... even sacrificing significant amounts of performance.

This where I am at. I think I have settled on a loaded up C2. I've had a Tesla Model 3 Performance. An average car with supercar acceleration, which was hardly used. Passing power was meh. I have a Wrangler 4xE that runs 5.5 second 0-60.... and that is honestly quick enough for a daily driver. These 2.5 ton EV Hummers will give most 911s a run for their money at the stop light.

Unless there are some unforeseen production/design issues, I would think so. Mules were first spotted almost a year ago so 2024 makes sense. They wouldn't be running mules around 2+ years ahead of a refresh.

As someone said earlier, Rennlisters are nuts about, but I doubt the majority of 911 buyers care. Or if they focus on spec and usability, the turbo motor is far more affective. Especially if you live in any city substantially above sea level.

So... Why not both? I'd rather have an N/A in the lineup than no N/A. To each his own, if you like the 3.0 and feel that it's better for you then you know what you want. By all means. Vice versa.

Bring back the N/A! To this day I never forget how amazing my 991.1 C4S was compared to my 991.2 GTS and Turbo S in it's own way.
Posted this elsewhere, but it has relevance here as well.

Unless it is a special edition (like the 911ST), a Carrera with a NA 4.0L would be slower than the current 992 911 range with the FI 3.0L, and for Porsche to make a new, regular (not special edition) car that's actually slower than the current offerings would be, um, like having pigs fly and dog and cats marrying one another.

A NA 4.0L 911 with KERS might make sense, but if Porsche is going electrify the 911 range, then eventually the KERS/Hybrid system will have to go into the current 3.0L power plant, so not sure it makes sense to go backwards. But who knows.

Very good point.

I agree completely.

Unless P can charge serious premium, perhaps retro derivative, I don’t see it happening.

Has anyone heard info about the 992.2 Targa in particular? I’m seeing test mules but only in the coupe and cab variants

Very keen to see 992.2 Targa... mules are grazing on the Ring... launch must be imminent.

It'll look very much, if not identical, to the 992.1 Targa.

@Schorsch , it must be a hybrid because it sat at a fuel pump and didn't need fuel! Very quiet, too.

God bless you,
TT

New fresh pictures coming in from South Africa, camo is slowly coming off. I was not expecting such a big change in the rear light bar. The design will be different to current generation apparently.

992.2 Targa now making the rounds. Headlights
look to have Taycan-style lines instead of dots.

Thanks for sharing. The sensors beneath the front license plate are not well integrated into the design. I hope this choice isn't final.
