You're kinda proving my point. The 991 grew by about 100mm in wheelbase and 60mm in length compared to the 997 for engineering and performance reasons, as you state, whereas the 992 remained unchanged in wheelbase and increased by only 19mm in length compared to the 991 and yet can accommodate the new hybrid system. Therefore, if the 992 chassis is about the same size as the 991 chassis and the 992 chassis can accommodate the new hybrid system then it's reasonable to assume that the 991 chassis could have accommodated the new hybrid system as well.

Well, 100mm on wheelbase is not a good predictor of space for hybrid. The shape of the floor-pan and subframe would more likely be different.
I hope that high-end derivatives get hybrid to compete with other premium brands. Base and S models should be the last in the queue for this expensive and hardly wanted addition.

The rear tail lights will be fine with all of the camo removed. The .2 always looks a bit cleaner than the .1 to me. Not to mention that I will be surprised if they retool both the tail light and bumper molds to accommodate a new light shape.

I believe that is right. Also, who knows, maybe all 4x4 derivatives get hybrid motor for better weight distribution… all very interesting how that jig-saw puzzle is assembled.

I’ve mentioned this before, but in addition to the trans ability to house an electric motor, In an article by Motortrend they wrote that the increase in front track width was to accommodate a battery pack. This was before the 992.1 was at dealers. That’s a lot of engineering to not go hybrid this gen.

They have to get weight out of the car to make the hybrid a "better" car - sure they can add power to account for that, but the weight is the key to the overall driving experience. Where are they going to reduce weight from the current car?

Well, use a small battery pack. People aren't buying a 911 for EV only range. Enough EV range to get off local streets onto the first main road is all I need, a few miles. People want a KERS like system from a 911 hybrid - a fast discharging power boost, with short recharge times. If someone wants a full EV, they can buy the 718.

Purely hearsay and speculation but likely the AWD 911 will be hybrid as the front drive shaft of the Taycan can fit in the front of the 992. This would allow removal of unnecessary existing AWD components for weight savings. However, if this was the case then there would be a large discrepancy in speed (especially straight line and launches) between AWD and RWD…
