Interesting arguments based on spy photos as to why 992.2 could be NA.

I made it about a minute in before I gave up after the narrator implied that Porsche was using the production front fascia and engine vent designs on their development mules. *gestures wildly* That’s not how any of this works. And there’s no way that Porsche goes back to NA in any meaningful way - it just doesn’t make sense from an emissions, performance, or customer satisfaction standpoint.

i was in the same camp too until seeing the latest spyshots. Facelift models merely put intercooler air exit/vents closer to the center of the bumper instead of on two outer edge of the rear bumper

I will say, it is weird that these test mules have the side vents whereas the other one in that video did not..

As others have mentioned, it could just be meaningless bumper variations related to testing

Or it could be Porsche's attempt to confuse everyone and get us wondering!

God bless you,
TT

That's what they do best with the mules. Porsche is notorious for covering up and hiding things on the mules and including extras as fake outs. It's fun to speculate though.

agreed, my Q7 does the same, looks like my headlight is off when turning. You would think its good to have maximum light when turning at night, makes no sense.
hahah... I realized after the fact that most people dont call it that, but decided to leave it in. And yea, Audi has done a great job with design in recent years but the headlight thing is a real head scratcher for me.

The low redline on the digital tach could be another fake out attempt by Porsche. But, considering emissions and fuel economy issues, doesn't it seem unlikely the 718's NA 4.0 will be in a 911, except in some sort of special model? On the other hand, why would they develop that motor for the 718 for use for only a few years before the 718 becomes an EV?

God bless you,
TT

Ya, a larger N/A engine is going to be way worse on fuel consumption. The 4.0 in the GT3 comes with a gas guzzler tax doesn't it? not sure about the 718 4.0. It's not the direction Porsche is going and I would be shocked to see an N/A in the regular lineup. If we do get it, I would bet on it being detuned and paired with electric. Special edition cars and GT products are likely the only recipients of N/A engines in the future.

You can thank US DOT regs for that.

Maybe 4L NA for base and T and turbo hybrid for S on up?

IDK...The 911 has never been more successful than it has been when turbocharged. The N/A mob is loud on Rennlist, but the numbers speak for themselves. The 3.0 Turbo is fantastic. Ya, it doesn't sound like N/A but whatever. It can still sound really good with aftermarket additions. The world outside of rennlist has gotten over it and Porsche doesn't really have a reason to change their formula. I feel like no N/A in bread and butter models unless neutered and electric + GT /special cars. I just don't see what benefit they get from changing. Maybe I'm wrong. Personally, I love the turbo motor and sounds it makes (not the exhaust, the turbos themselves), so if porsche wants to make my 992 the best turbo generation ever made, I'm cool with it.
