Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 (NA0).
They're not bad but also not that good in snow and ice. I think for being really good on snow they are too much of a compromise. This is speculation: But I suspect Porsche developes the NA0 tires for better dry and wet grip than on snow and ice. Which is understandable as 911s are usually not driven in snow very often. On the dry and wet they are stunning!
Maybe next winter I'll try Continental TS 860 (NA0). Big advantage: They have no running direction other than the Michelin. So if you change the left to the right rear wheel you will gain a lot of traction as the tire profile becomes a sawtooth.
If you want Approved there are not many winter tires with NA0 mark.
In Germany most of the time it's either dry or wet in the winter, Hakkapeliitas even without studds doesn't make sense here. And also the speed limit of Hakkapeliitas are too low, even the 240 km/h speed limit of the Michelin Alpin 5 winter tires are too low, wish I had 270 km/h speed limit. 😁
But I'm thinking about Hakkapeliitas for my next North Cape Roadtrip in the winter.
My 992 C4S is my daily driver. I don’t currently have a garage because I was told it would cost the same as the car, and since I only had enough money for one of those things I bought the car. I went for a 4 hour drive the other morning through southern Vermont which was dramatically better than 4 hours in a garage, so I’m still happy with that decision. Also, I think those test drivers testing north of the arctic circle did me good and the car can probably handle the Berkshires.
Dolomite Silver hides the dirt well, but I did put 20K miles on it in the first year. My wife and I drove it to California and back last fall and put 11k miles on it in just over 8 weeks. I would recommend trying that, it was very fun.
Very fun in the snow. All packed and ready to drive across the country Plenty of room Small car big sky, South Dakota Idaho, Craters of the Moon Bug murderer Bighorn National Forest had some of the most amazing roads, no traffic, and very generous speed limits. Sexy We saw an outhouse. Hard to tell, but the car was filthy at this point. Spent 2 weeks in Carmel visiting family. Got a few mornings of driving down to Big Sur and back.

Yes, well I won't mention the speed limits here, but in all honesty even if there were none, you couldn't really drive above 160kph as the roads are full of heaves (we had a Mustang I think a few years ago on Goldstream that flew off into the trees), not to mention wild animals such as caribou, moose and occasional bear that would make it extremely hazardous. But having lived in Switzerland for 19 years I do remember the autostradas and autobahns driving up from Geneva to Munich in my 1970 911 Targa.
So yes will try and off load my Michelin shortly and order the Hakkas for this coming winter. Do post more pics this winter!

you are brave and kudos to choose car over garage in those climate conditions. That’s something special. I am impressed by you guys up north to buy a 911, which really does not come to my mind when thinking about cars and the north. I could not imagine. Here we are softies…we use the garage to avoid the sun and salt from ocean.
