I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. I think it’s a software tuning thingy and it doesn’t ACTUALLY mean that your PDK is failing. I got a couple of revisions to iron that out.

The Porsche PDK is finicky
Thanks for chiming in. Did yours actually slip / kick out of gear? That's the part that was rather unnerving.

I have confidence that Mitch/team will figure this out.

^ Yes, you get kicked out of gear and power cuts out for a few seconds.

My understanding (and if you look back about a month or so in this thread we discussed it) is that it’s the transmission reading too much torque at certain RPM levels.

I guess the transmission has some set values that it is not supposed to see above, and when it does, it disengages to save itself.

My barbaric understanding of what Mitch and the team are doing is that they are adjusting those values so that the transmission won’t do that. I’m guessing it’s a painstaking process because it may not necessarily all get fixed with one revision. But I’m guessing that they got a lot of insight/practice with my car and I am assuming that that will benefit future consumers like you

Does anyone have the valves open all the time? If so, do you like it? In considering asking M to do that for me

I do. Much prefer it over the factory setup. Much more noticeable rumble in lower RPMs. PSE on / off button now works. Before I had to really listen for a difference.

Yes. I have valves open 100% in sport and sport plus modes or whenever I toggle exhaust switch on. It is a very noticeable difference compared to stock valve operation. When stock I could barely tell any difference btw normal and sport mode when idling. Car sounded ever so slightly louder in sport mode. Now there is a huge difference in not only sound but feel. The second I turn to sport mode, there is now a subtle yet noticeable vibration through the car b/c of the exhaust programming. I really like it. Makes the car feel special when i put it in sport mode. If it’s too much just switch back to normal mode and everything calms down. Best part with M Engineering is, if you don’t like it, you can just upload the previous map.

I too have it done... so much more sound and what a 911 should have down low with the flat 6 (especially with the turbos now). The car feels more sporty from an aural standpoint during cruising and start up yet isnt over the top. Not all owners can constantly run their cars above the 5k OEM valve opening threshold so if you are already getting the M Engineering tune- this is a bonus for sure.

Thanks for the love everyone! Heads up, we have a bunch of us out at Pike's Peak for testing and racing, so we may be a bit slower than usual to respond. Thanks for the patience!
Check out Pike's Peak if you haven't done so before, pretty cool stuff this year being the 100th running

Alright ... you guys sold me on the PSE update.

I reached out to Scott around 5 PM (closing time) and got the file at 7:30 PM!!!! This is customer service I have not seen from any other tuner!!!

Needless to say the update is very noticeable! Very mad at myself for not doing this earlier... 😉

OK, opening up the valves on the exhaust was a game changer. Thanks everyone for suggesting it!

@M Engineering So just to clarify, to open up the valves I still would have to load a new ECU tune file?

Yes, you’ll have to quickly flash to change the valve functionality. They will program it to have the valves always stay open when the exhaust button in the car is pressed/lit up.
