Not a huge priority, but if you guys at M Engineering can let us know, that will finally put to rest a long debate we’ve been having at this forum.

My vote is that no: it does noting to increase boost. But perhaps it speeds up the boost ramp up, or maybe keeps peak boost longer?
Apologies if I missed it, but has the lingering question of WTH does the SR button do been answered?

Installed the stage 1 91 octane m-engineering tune on my
stock 992 S manual. Quick process overall, fast customer response.

The OEM PSE, at least on the ‘22 has been under whelming. Hard to tell much difference between normal and sport PSE at times, so I asked for the full on/ off capability as part of the tune.
I’m very surprised with the difference in sound with the tune. It is substantially louder when PSE is on, particularly idling and in the lower RPMs, even has a rumble and vibration to the sound which is welcomed, kind of like 911s of the past. Huge difference when PSE is turned off now (feels like a luxury car) I was not expecting this at all. I’ve been searching exhaust and sport cat options, may have to reconsider, or keep it to sport cats only. 👍🏼

In terms of power it is stronger, but the first drive didn’t wow me like I was expecting. Sent in some datalogs, Mitch said it could be crappy gas pulling extra timing, got a updated file and was stronger on second drive. Another drive later in eve in 60deg weather it’s feeling faster. Expected it to be scary, but it’s just really quick/rapid acceleration. Power delivery is OEM smooth which may explain why it’s not scary. Will see what Mitch says about the 2nd set of datalogs.

Happy so far! And with the added bonus of the exhaust improvement, the tune is a bargain.

^ What fuel are you using?

I usually go with Shell V-Power Nitro or sometimes Marathon or BP, and I’m on 93 octane.

I had the same experience. They said it was crappy gas so I refilled it and still same story. Went to the 91 tune which is very mild. I was only able to pick up 24 lb ft tq and 53 hp. I am waiting for more tune updates to see if it can be improved. Both Mitch and Scott have been very helpful.

^ You should allow the full boost ramp up, use 93 octane, and get sport cats and you will unlock way more power. Unlock the power, my friend!

Of course I use 93 octane! duh. I guess some cars are different with different box codes. I wish I could ramp up the boost. Apparently boost has to be lowered to prevent detonation. If you look at your logs you'll see boost ramps up then falls off then ramps back up. You should graph your logs on excel so you can see.

^ I guess I’m confused because you said above that you are running the 91 octane tune

Yes because the 93 tune was causing too much timing and boost to be pulled from detonation I assume.

This was one of my early datalog runs I posted a while back after I first flashed

^ I did another datalog more recently with the sport response button pressed where, using similar math based on my absolute manifold pressure and barometric pressure average in my area, boost pressure is getting closer to 28 psi. I don’t know for sure how accurate that is but it sure feels good to think that it’s real!

It seems apparent that their tune is not plug and play??

Or is that they are still developing their tune and the early adopters are the testing ground?

I have had several tunes on different cars and never had to have it tweaked ect.

I am wondering the same. Was going to pull the trigger (base C2) with interest in the 91 octane map (looking for conservative upgrade), but reading here gives me the feeling that it is not a 100% plug n play yet. Seems like a lot of tweaking and problem-solving going on.

I think the issue is different box codes are slightly different so they have to keep tweaking the tunes. I’m sure they will be able to adapt to the new ECU programs in time

Your boost pressure looks really good. Ramps up and stays flat then ramps up again. Mine ramped up then fell off before increasing to a maximum of around 21
