At this point ive given up any hope for completion to be before the August summer break.

Your tyd update however gives me Somewhat of a little hope given that your production started a week and change after mine. If there was really an ongoing chip shortage I doubt Porsche would continue producing Cars that they are not able to complete within the expected week time frame.
I think your S.A. is just guessing. It's an intelligent guess, but that's it. A friend of mine had his production pushed forward a week for a 911s. His completion date was supposed to be 7/30. His S.A. called him today and said it was finished and getting prepped for transport. All that being said, there has to be a reason why your 911 is not finished. Was there a specific option that may be the problem?

Other than the High gloss black aerokit and Satin Black Spyder Wheels (which are new for 2022MY), I cant really think of anything out of the ordinary.

Still showing 9/3/2021 completion date and likely to stay as is for the rest of the month given August break. Bummer

Did your Targa make it out on time prior to the Summerbreak?

Unfortunately, it did not. But thank's for asking. I was hoping it would just eek it out.

A bit long winded, but I may have to buy a lottery ticket after what happened yesterday on my journey for a 2022 C4S (after reading some of the delay/unavailability stories from other recent replies).

I had been talking to local Dealer1 and had submitted Porsche Code and "order demand" 2 weeks+ ago, and all I got in return was "we'll forward your request, but no promises", and complete lack of response or feedback with any subsequent inquiries to them.
  1. Being tired of waiting on Dealer1 ghosting me, I sent my Porsche Code to local Dealer2 on Sunday evening to see what happens.
  2. The next day (Monday) at 9:00 AM, the GM at Dealer2 contacts me saying he has an allocation available for me. We discuss and agree on MSRP pricing (no ADM).
  3. By 11:00 AM I pay the allocation deposit over the phone
  4. By 1:00 PM we exchange P&S agreement over email
  5. By 3:00 PM PCNA emails me with the TYD login and I have a commission number in the system already, and showing Estimated Delivery Date of 12/3/21
That's called winning! . Congrats!

My guess is the aerokit is the issue. Tons of messaging on the RL about aerokits being canceled out of the configurator and some losing their aerokits after their build's locking also so that my be the issue and the hold up from Porsche AG. Look around the RL and see what the current status of others with the aerokit have been. GL

targa 4s
I placed a deposit at a chicagoland dealer 10 days ago for a targa 4s. Dealer said 12 to 18 months. I am on a waiting list.

I think you need to find another dealer...12 to almost 2yrs for delivery of even a 992 is a bit much. Look out of state unless you really don't care about timelines. May take a bit but am sure there is at least one lurking around out there somewhere waiting to be obtained!

Default Built, but held up at an East Coast port

My '22 (Boxster 25 Years) was built early last month, and hit the US around 8-1. ETA to the dealer was supposed to be 8-20, but the dealer has been informed the car is being held up at the port awaiting "regulatory approval". Does anyone know what this is about? Latest ETA is now 10-1, but the dealer acknowledges that is not a guarantee. I guess I should feel lucky that it is, in fact, built. But it's frustrating that the delivery holdup is for no reason other than government bureaucracy. Michael

Yes, there is a thread on this. It's the emissions testing and 2022 4.0's seem to have a October 1 release date. I looked on the EPA site the other day and didn't see an application by Porsche yet.

Good things come to those who wait.
I did same in April for a C4S. I just got a call from dealer saying they didn't get any C4S build allocations the August distribution.

I hope you are right about "Good things come to those who wait"

Guys call around there are C4S allocations but they are rare and most I've heard who have been successful in getting a 992 did not just wait on their local dealer to get one and down to them on the list and just give them a check in hope of getting one at some point. Lots of demand for everything up from a basic 992 it seems and with the chip shortages and increasing COVID19 issues still plaguing everything from production to logistics; most reports I've seen show none of this getting much better and returning to "normal" until well into 2022! So if you're willing to wait then...I guess you may get a call from your dealers...eventually!

agreed. Made my first 2 out of state calls today. Likely Atlanta PEC delivery so sourcing dealer is really moot point. My local is small and I put $1K back in April. I provided them a build code and they pushed it up as an order demand (which I know just shows some soft intent). I want a C4orS. Apparently they got 3 Aug allocations: 2 turbo S and a Cab plus 1 gift Cab.

Now it’s wait till our Oct allocation and “hopefully” yours pops….but that’s just not something I need to do so I’ve started to call around and provide a modest deposit for intent.

We’re waiting on a Land Rover product and just got notice that build was delayed 30 days and car will likely not come with Headsup display due to supplier chip issue for that component….I may cancel order and just wait till new Ver5 RR makes its debut later this year and just get in line for a new one!!

To encourage my fellow future brethren, definitely take the advice and don’t just wait on one dealer. I was on the single dealer/sit and wait boat initially - figured I’d play it straight and let the largest Porsche dealer in my area to get me my very first 911. A re-hash of my story above:
  • I put in an order demand to this large Dealer1 on 7/15.
  • I got impatient two weeks following my 7/15 order demand going silent, and decided to reach out to a much smaller local Dealer2 for the hell of it.
  • I was able to secure and order a custom MY22 C4S that same day with Dealer2. (TYD says 12/3 delivery)
  • Since Dealer1 has ghosted me since my initial order demand (over 1 month now), I did not give them the courtesy of cancelling the order with them. Going to see if I end up taking delivery of my order with Dealer2 before/if Dealer1 follows back up with me.

Best of luck to everyone trying — the allocations may be out there for you if you actively shop around.
