if the car is mechanically unchanged for 2022, they still need to go through process? There must be a waiver clause or something?

Every model year needs to be re-certified.

I can't believe based on these 911 sales numbers that there is a draught on allocations and cars to purchase. Did people in 2019 go through this same process of hard to find allocations and no cars on the lot? Do we attribute this to substantially higher demand than in previous years?

And I’m paying MSRP, which I normally never do. But I don’t trust what will happen with the 2022 model year and don’t want to lose the manual transmission option. Covid changes everything.
Congrats on getting that allocation! I can't imagine them changing much between '21 and '22 or god forbid they remove the MT option.

Thank you

and you are probably right, but things like the looming particulate matter filters scare me. I feel this generation of 911 will be the last to evoke the heritage of an analog age. It’s my first Porsche but I’m steeped in Porsche history. My driving instructor at Sebring was none other than the great Porsche factory driver Vic Elford!

After 2 back to back cancers, losing my healthy father to Covid19 and turning 60, I want to get this right!

Ha...yes many thought that and ALL had to wait...some for months. Despite the car being the same basically all MY21s were NOT released by EPA until mid Nov and CARB took their sweet time and released cars I think a few weeks later around 1st week of Dec. So do NOT hold your breath. Each year must be properly certified! Hopefully both Porsche NA/AG and the various govt agencies will have their shyt together this time but don't bet on it.

I was looking for a Cab for my wife and my local dealer only has 2 remaining allocations - a C2S and a C4S if you want to contact them please PM me and I'll be glad to send over my ambassador's info.

Look at the drop in volume from 2019 to 2020...that is due to a supply constraint is if you look around there are barely any 911s sitting on dealer lots. Add that to people having extra cash due to the stock market, and less spending on vacations, dining etc and you have probably 25% more demand than normal now.

To be fair it's only about 400 cars total or 3-4%. Given the Covid factory shutdown and some lingering supply constraints I would say Porsche did quite well all things considered. I ado agree that demand spiked b/c people simply have more cash, especially those at the top and instead of spending on travel they are spending on cars, watches and other luxuries.

Hi all, just got offered a C2S coupe (changeable) allocation. Dealer was trying to get me to trade in one of my father's cars (991) since they need inventory but he is not interested. If anyone wants the info I will pass along.
