It’s not an excuse; it’s an opinion. The base definitely felt more responsive to me. I can’t completely attribute that to turbo lag though… I suppose it could also have been a product of the base model’s engine having to work a little harder.
I do agree that Porsche will probably never offer us a base model manual again. While that fact disappoints me, I’m also grateful that they offer us a manual at all. I wouldn’t have ordered a new 911 without one.

It’s definitely happening my dealer called me last week, he got an internal communication from Porsche confirming.
No exact timescale yet but expects it to be later in the year which corresponds with the Autocar article above.
I’m excited, just love my T but as always the new car pull is strong and I’ve always loved the wide body.
The 992 looks have grown on me big time too how do car designers do it?

I hope it does. I love my 991.2 but would look hard at a 992. We picked up our Spyder today and I brought up the 992 T to my SA, stating I'd consider trading in my 2019 on one - he's been asking me to do so for 6 mos now - he responded that the lightweight packages available on the 992 make the T irrelevant. He then went off to ask the SM and GM about it and came back saying they stated it was not happening. Just one data point. I hope I'm wrong.

I've bought 3 cars there and just ordered my mother a Macan. By no means a VIP, all from the same SA over the years. My sister-in-law's father has been a service advisor at the dealership for over 20 years.
I dont think they'd lie to me intentionally, as stated, just a data point that I hope is incorrect.

So…
I started this thread, been completely confident that there would be a “T”, and this week also put down a deposit for a 992 T.
I can’t share specifics, but it was at one of the largest East Coast dealers.

I'm new to the Porsche brand (have an allocation for a 992S MT, decided not to wait for the T), but isn't this a little unusual for Porsche to be releasing so many different models in the same year? (GT3/Touring, GTS, and Carrera T). Doubly so with the production shortages?

I really don’t know but at the rate the world is changing for motorists I’m snapping up what I want while I can.

I agree, if there’s profit in it Porsche will make it but the one thing that Porsche won’t do is make a slower car than the last generation and I’ve yet to see how they can make a vehicle which weighs 300lbs more than the last gen with the same engine be faster with a manual transmission. PDK is a relatively easy problem set they have solved but without more power a heavier car will be slower off the line. Not that it is the end all be all and I definitely didn’t buy my T for 0-60 times but it’s one of those data points used to compare generations. I also believe this is why they haven’t offered a manual in the base model. To me, the Porsche easy button is to wait for the 992.2 when they adjust their lineup to the base having the current S power, the S having the current GTS power and the GTS having just below current non-S Turbo power. I’m sure no matter all that if the did launch a T it would still be faster on a track due to chassis and suspension upgrades in the 992 in the current setup.

In testing, C&D has the base 991.2 at 3.4 0-60, and the base 992 at 3.2 0-60. I’m expecting the manual to lag those times, but to be competitive with the 991.2 at least.

^^ that’s with a completely redesigned PDK transmission and just as important programming that enables it to pull off those numbers. A manual transmission removes most of those advantages. Admittedly I have not done the research in the 992 Carrera S manual transmission to see the progress but that vehicle also received a more substantial power increase to offset the increased weight. But if there’s a way/market Porsche will figure a solution out if they haven’t already. Ultimately I can’t wait to see it if it does go into production because this world needs more manual transmissions and people that love driver engagement and are not worried about only 0-60s. Drove a Tacan 4S the other day…wow, fast…but utterly boring and uninvolved experience.
