I was being serious. I’m not offended. I am extremely aesthetically oriented, but this level is above my pay grade. Again, I mean it, power to you!
I obviously prefer to avoid it being damaged, but I also want to have it to slip into “don’t worry” mode as quickly as possible.
If you baby it too much you don’t own it, it owns you.
P.S. Yes, this is by a large margin my first serious car. Most dumb normal people have never heard of paint correction either, fyi.
I don’t care if people do it or not, but what I found astounding was that you’d never even heard of it. Like the other guy who didn’t know about PPF. There must be hundreds if not thousands of threads in this stuff. But you gotta start somewhere, so good on ya.
Each to their own re PPF.
I know people that happily live in dirty messy houses and it doesn’t bother them. I also know people that drive filthy paint chipped cars and it doesn’t bother them. Each to their own.
I want my kitchen to look like it did 5 years ago when new. I don’t want chipped wall and floor tiles and patchy paint in my kitchen.
If my car doesn’t look like it did a few years back when new it bugs me.
Its not that I want to mollycoddle it and drive like an old woman (man), on the contrary having PPF means I’m more confident taking it on poor road surfaces without wondering what could happen to it.
If your spending well over 100k incl 4-6k on leather, another 4k on paint etc etc then surely another 4K is worthwhile??
I highly recommend PPF, especially the hood and the hips. If you look in the first pic, you can see all the nicks in the PPF, and the scratches in the paint where the PPF is not. This is a 2020 with 14k miles. Some may complain that the line of the film is more unsightly than scratches would be, but as seen in the second pic, you really can’t see the PPF line from any distance other than close up.
A $5000 condom. 🤣. I’ve had these cars for years! No PPF. They are worth many times what I gave without PPF.
Good taste. I had a silver 987.1 S and a black 993 cab.
BTW, I'm not trying to convince you of PPF. Do as you will. I too didn't have PPF on my cars until recently and now I'm a convert. I hate swirl marks on black cars and I hate feeling the need to be careful when I'm driving them even more. PPF helps me be worry free. I don't know how you drive or care for your cars. There was a very brief time in my history with cars when I was into babying pedigreed garage queens and I'm not going back. I like to drive them hard and tight and keep them looking good without fuss. PPF is the perfect solution for me.
I don't mean to question the money and time spent on paint correction and protective films, but I've never done this and have always enjoyed my cars anyway. In fact, the only paint "issues" I've had were on the two cars I bought used with protective films and the film started peeling at the edges. I mean this with all sincerity, but what's motivating folks to do this? It seems like everyone with a new T is doing it. I was just going to pick mine up and drive it. Am I missing something?
I have previously only gone with ceramic coatings (which I fully endorse as a minimum by the way) but as I plan to periodically drive this one in a spirited fashion when we go on some of our driving trips to Wales and Scotland with the guys, we are often in a convoy and inevitably I will pick up chips otherwise! My GTS picked up several horrid ones on the last trip so I have opted for a PPF front end (and roof for sun and bird poo protection) and ceramic coating on the remainder.
