Garage makeover complete
There has not been one person in this world that drove a 911 without RAS and complaint it didn’t feel good or wasn’t a real sportscar. You can never go wrong when you don’t have RAS and you would never have an idea you would be missing something. You could go wrong when you have it and don’t like it. When you compare them next to eachother you can have your own preference. But not a single person in the world would complaint about the feel of a 911 without RAS. Would the car feel to mechanical ?? Lol.
So my T was without RAS and without the steering plus. It felt very good.
Now I have the RAS and the steering plus. You will hear pretty soon from me.

Two remarks: you have power steering and you have the power steering plus. For which version is your question? Because they differ insanely. Secondly when you change the wheel allignment you change the steering wheel feel. Most people don’t even look at the wheel allignment. Heck, some even forget testing with different bars. All this is directly related to the feel the electric steering gives: steer response. You need to consider all those points. When you do, and change them like I do, it goes from very good to almost perfection.
I do plan on tuning most of the things in the car to my liking. I do my own string alignments on my Lancer Evolutions, and getting set up to do the same on my 992 is high on the list.
So I drove the red 992 T without RAS and without electronic steering plus for 12 months. Just bought this second hand 992 T with RAS and with electronic steering plus. Review will follow.

I tried keeping my phone in other areas while driving but really like it in view, for whatever reason. I'm extremely happy with this Rennline product. I followed a tip from another member and did not remove the entire trim piece. Rather, I only loosened one torx screw (the one in the glove box on the left, closest to the install location). This allowed just enough give to slide in. Once I retightened the torx screw, it was nice and tight. Hope it stays that way but I can always do the regular install if it doesn't.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts. I opted to go without either - as you mentioned earlier, I love without but don't know what I don't know.

@Macboy big congrats! Can't wait to hear your comments on RAS and power steering plus. The new car looks outstanding.
100%
One issue is that many asking about RAS have never owned or driven a 911 so it can't be easy to value or even understand the debate.

And the RAS battle continues........
Those without RAS say the car is more pure, possesses better feel, and is lighter. Shock.
Those with RAS say it's great. Again, shock.
I've had both on my two 991.2 Ts and it wouldn't be a deal breaker either way. If ordering new, I would tick the box. If buying used, RAS presence would not be an overly significant option (FAL on the other hand is something I don't require therefore don't want.) The continued preaching of cars with RAS being somehow less feelsome, heavier (14-17lbs on a 3300lb car? Eat one less cheeseburger), and less pure is purely an individual decision. Quoting the latest YT review/gush/lovefest of a model that ISN"T a T has little relevance. Quoting AP's latest stance is also subject as he has always and will always promote the latest as the best (why wouldn't he? It's his job).
It's an option. You don't have to tick the box. But doing so doesn't and shouldn't get you demoted in the T-army.

Here’s my build. Locked. Hopefully arriving in June.
My first Porsche. Planning for it to be a daily driver. Was wanting an S, was offered a GTS but seemed like too much car for me, and this allocation fell in my lap. Had to rush and finalize the build over a weekend, watched countless hours of YouTube and read a gazillion forum posts. I’m sure there will
be things I may have wanted to add/delete but I’ll have to save that wisdom for the next one.

I didn’t check the RAS box on my 992 but did on my wife’s Cayenne. Definitely shortens the turning radius and makes it easier in tight parking situations, something that I dont care about on the 992 but is nice in the SUV. If I were to check the box on RAS it would be to use on the track and I don’t track it. The conversation continues 🤣🤣

Lolz.
@timothymoffat @Mike818 There is no "battle". Personalizing or dramatizing things others say is never a good look. I can't recall the last time I or anyone else said one is better over the other. When RAS is discussed, most of the convo is centered around when it makes sense and when it doesn't and yes, many times it's by people who are buying their first 911 (notice I didn't say you @Mike818 lol).
I don't know how many times I've said I personally have nothing against RAS and would option it if it made sense for my use. It currently doesn't nor does it make sense for most user cases.

@SEA2ATX glad I could be of help in some way with my musings as I tried to navigate options for my car(s).
There seems to be some confusion. I and many others decided against RAS long before the ST was announced. The launch of the ST and Andreas' early comments about purity and feel as a reason to exclude it CONFIRMED what the rest of us already knew. Also, I'm not sure what the steering ratio of the ST has to do with RAS on the T. Steering and suspension are different in GT cars so it only applies to the T conceptually. The reason the ST is getting solid reviews as a road car is because they've calibrated the suspension and steering as a road car and deleted RAS, closer to a non-RAS Carrera than a GT3. Driving a GT3 on the road for more than a couple of hours is no fun. I have two GT3s (997 but similar in terms of focus) and don't particularly enjoy driving them on the road.
Anyway, this is what they actually said about RAS

LIke @6sigma pointed out, early interviews with Andreas mention purity and feel as the reason. The weight argument was secondary and became the main focus later.
