Do you have a front license plate?

WE CARE...My 1980 Targe...1st Porsche...NO PLATE...was stopped once, no citation...Officer said he would not run a plate either if it was his car. Sometimes folks can be their own worse enemy when getting stopped by the police. With all the options today, why would you put holes in a beautiful ride. For some, it doesn't matter because it is just a car, but too many it is our pride of ownership and a ugly front plate is not included in the pride.

It's not about the holes in the bumper. It's about a dealer disregarding their customers preferences. If my dealer is aware that I do not want drilled holes in the bumper, and then proceeds to disregard my request. Then yes. I'd walk away & find a new dealer.
It's purely based off the principle of the matter.
Luckily... my dealer would never do that, and never has. As most would use the tow hook mount at the very least. YMMV

That was not my point nor the point of the thread. I agree that if I instructed the dealer to not drill for a front plate I would not accept it if they did so. Here, you sign a release with the dealer if you don’t want the front plate bracket. That’s a CYA for them. However, it’s still illegal to drive without a front plate affixed to the car. Personal choice whether you want to take the risk. Peace out.

Definitely a state-by-state enforcement issue. Virginia is stringent about a lot of things, like no radar detectors. Here in Texas the front plate is required, but rarely enforced, so I chose to take the gamble of not installing one strictly for the look. I've never had an issue except for once getting stopped in a seat belt enforcement sting operation in a freeway u-turn lane--the LEO said "that's why they give you two" but let me go because he had more important things to do. I also never back into parking spaces to avoid that issue too.

Well, for what it's worth in Australia we have these pesky things called speed cameras, even time/distance ones, so there is no choice. Front plates are 100% mandatory, nobody even really talks/thinks/worries about it. If you don't have one for sure a cop will pull you over and it'll cost you.

The front plate is in the back of the passenger front seat in a convenient storage place keeping it pristine and clean. I had it anchored between the dash and windscreen before but it started rattling so I found a better place for it.

Bought my 997, didn’t have a plate on the front, a mount, or even holes. I had my mechanic do a proper install and while he had the bumper off, install a 3rd radiator. I agree, it does look better without it, but I paid up for the CA black and yellow plates, my car is Basalt Black, so it looks as good as it probably possibly could. I was pulled over in my 944 coming out of the horse races at Del Mar (booze fest), the officer used my lack of a front plate as the predicate, he was fishing and I was sober. I drive a lot for work and I don’t like talking to police officers unless they are off duty. For me, the small aesthetic detraction is more than a fair trade for not driving around with a built in reason to be pulled over by any officer who sees the lack of plate and feels like doing it.

When I lived in Virginia, they were a bit nuts about front plates and taxes. A motion to remove them was defeated, and the police look for them. On that car, I did a Skene bracket mount. The bracket is mounted under the bumper so holes cannot be seen if removed. I placed the bracket so that the front plates was low and it didn’t look bad. When I moved to Delaware, I removed the bracket and not a mark. I had put felt pads on any point that could possibly come in contact with the paint.
I am not sure if it is possible with the 992 as I have had no need.

My OCD made it difficult for me to use the tow hook mount. The lack of symmetry drove me crazy. It's a good solution if you don't mind the look. I will give you one caveat. I had someone back into my car while parking, no real issue except the tow hook mount sits a bit out from the bumper and was pushed back into the bumper when it was hit. This caused a gash on the bumper cover. If you use a tow hook mount try to put some padding behind the plate in case that happens.

Not an endorsement, I wouldn't buy one but the concept is interesting.

If it tucked in better and could be integrated in some way....
